Talking to Tribute about his upcoming movie, 50/50, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has also spoken out briefly about his role as the mysterious John Blake in the third and possibly final Batman movie from director Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises. While there's nothing too revealing here, he does comment briefly on working with the movies impressive cast and refuses to give away anything about the character he'll be playing. Be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site where you can read the interview in full.

You’ve done some small films like this; little gems but you’re also getting into movies like Inception and I know you’re filming The Dark Knight Rises. What do you like better?

Well, for me it isn’t so much about the size of the movie. I just want to work on stuff where I feel creatively inspired whether that’s like a movie like 50/50 or The Dark Knight Rises—they’re both creatively inspiring. I’m in both of them and get to work with artists that I really admire and love working with whether that’s Gary Oldman and Christian Bale or Seth Rogen and Anna Kendrick or whether it’s Chris Nolan or John Levine. I mean these are all artists I really respect and it’s true the movie I am working on right now is a huge, huge, huge movie and 50/50 is a smaller movie but I guess I have eclectic taste. I take equal inspiration from them both.

Yeah, I think that’s what success is in your business, though, having variety and versatility. Speaking of that huge, huge movie is there anything you can tell me about your character in The Dark Knight Rises?

Yeah, everyone asks me that but I can’t. The thing is Mr. Nolan is very, very considerate in every aspect of how he tells his stories and I really admire that about him. He’s very measured in exactly when he will reveal the next thing about his stories within the movie and leading up to the movie so I just wait for what he wants his audience to know.

These guys just will not give anything away, will they? Be sure to share your thoughts on the actors comments, as well as who you think he'll be playing in the highly anticipated movie, in the usual place!

Very good answers. He's a smart guy and I respect that. Calling Chris "Mr. Nolan" is inherently amusing to me though.

I think this (TDKR), Looper, and Lincoln will finally give him the exposure he needs as an actor. I would not be surprised at all if he got an Oscar nom. in the next 5-10 years. bright future ahead.

also, for any JGL fans out there, I highly recommend The Lookout. great film.

Well, if he does end up being Robin, at least it will be Nolan's Robin. Would probably be the best Robin incarnation ever, but I still hope he's not Robin (and I sort of doubt he take that role).

I actually believe that he's just John Blake but I think his character is going to have a lot more depth to him then we realize.

I really don't think he's Robin though. The last thing we need is another Robin thats a grown man.

The reality is this...DC has introduced SO many Robins in their universe now that the character has become somewhat of a revolving door in the DC comics. It reminds me of the Batman movies of the 90's...Who is going to play Batman now?! Clooney? Kilmer?

Instead, it's become "Who is the next Robin?!" It's really watered down the character to me. Far cry from Dick Grayson. Tim Drake was good, but at some point they need to calm down the constant character change.

he's got a tough job ahead of him, since he's secretly going to be playing the Riddler, the Joker, Robin (the Stephanie Brown version), Batman, and Spider-Man in this movie.

FYI - the "Tom Blake" comparison to "Tim Drake" was a joke (changing his name to Tom from John). Just playing off the "He must be Robin!" hype. ;)

He's playing Tommy Solomon: Information Officer and next-in-command. Tommy plays the role of Dick's adolescent son, yet he is the oldest and smartest of all the aliens. Tommy continually reminded the others of his superior intelligence and greater age. :)

i think whats gonna end up happening is that batman is gonna be killed off at the end of the movie and Levitt is going to know his identity by then and take on the cowl as john blake in retro spec being a grown dick grayson.

Here it is: John Blake is a cop who is helping Bruce and Gordon. He has to put on the Bat-suit to throw anyone who may be after Batman. Batman has a final confrontation with Bane. Bane breaks his back. Blake either becomes Nightwing or the new Batman (like Beyond.) Bam. Reset the franchise with a new hero.

See, as much as I'd love him to be playing Black Mask or Nightwing or sRed Hood etc, I just think it'd be yet another "secret reveal" and we'd tire of it. Ducard is really Ra's, Miranda is really Talia (if you believe the rumors), John Blake is really so-and-so... You know what I mean? Good actor though, he'll do well whoever he plays.
