I'm actually pleasantly surprised. I expected this video to be about how Batgirl isn't "sexy" anymore because they changed her costume. Kudos! I was beginning to lose faith in the CBM community. It seems that lately this site is populated strictly by idiot 14-year olds who don't understand misogyny.

I do actually prefer her new costume. (It's not perfect, I think it does look too casual, and not costumes enough, or functional enough as armor.) But I like that it's not skin-tight anymore. But I do agree with your complaints regarding her portrayal and how she appears to be becoming very basic, and losing her internal strength (I just don't hate the costume like you do). Although, I want to repeat this, I'm ecstatic that you don't dislike her costume because it's "not sexy." You have reasons that aren't sexist! That makes me happy.

I would agree 100% with your onion about the cover, if not for one thing. The main problem I have with the cover is Barbara's expression. I'm fine with the rape-y connotations: the fit in context, and they're being portrayed negatively. However, in fitting with Batgirl being (or at least supposed to be) a strong woman, I would've liked to see her look angry, not crying. Batman would never cry in that situation. I think the cover is SLIGHTLY sexist because if the genders were different there is no way we'd see Robin cry like that when being confronted by his rapist. Why can't Batgirl look pissed off?

@CavalierTunes

We have seen robin cry,... we've seen plenty of heroes cry.. the only one we haven't seen cry is batman, and tbh that just goes to show how one dimensional he is.

Robin Cry

I think heroes have to be broken in order to pull themselves together and be triumphant, I think that as strong as a character Batgirl has grown to be from the incident, having the joker capture her is still going to terrify her to really be back in that same compromised situation.
