Nolan Not Positive About 3rd Batman Movie

Nolan Not Positive About 3rd Batman Movie

Bat-director Chris Nolan was accosted by the LA Times after the Scream awards and told them that he wasn't too hot on a Batman 3.

When asked what the possibility of him NOT making Batman 3, Nolan said...

"Well ... let me think how to put this. There are two things to be said. One is the emphasis on story. What’s the story? Is there a story that’s going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years that it will take to make another one? That’s the overriding question. On a more superficial level, I have to ask the question: How many good third movies in a franchise can people name? [Laughs.] At the same time, in taking on the second one, we had the challenge of trying to make a great second movie, and there haven't been too many of those either. It’s all about the story really. If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer."

While scripter David Goyer debunked many of the “Batman 3″ rumors that have shown up online, there are still many questions about a potential sequel that are on the minds of the fans. One can only hope we will get some solid news soon.

i would like to see him finish the 3rd one,
i know already that they will make a 3rd and maybe even more and more but Nolan should at least finish the story he started.

clayface would be awesome, but far fetched. A lot of these new movies are trying to be more realistic. (eg. Jokers face being painted on.) Also, I don't see it being easy to make an entire movie with Clayface. Maybe have another villain turn clayface into clayface. Riddler would be cool but they should do justice to mr freeze and Poison Ivy. Cat woman is a must i think.

I'm sure there are other good 3rd movies, besides you're Chris Nolan! You can pull it off!

Seriously, can you imagine another Batman movie standing up to that beast?

You didn't read the LA article, did you? If you read it, it's quite clear they are already thinking about 3rd movie ... they just dont have the story, anything, so he don't want some shitte story

read the actual LA Times article, not just CBM article about MTV article about LA Times article (that's why I don't like blogs :) )

I think they should bring the riddler on. It would be good if it was done like Batman meets Se7en meets Zodiac. It would focus on the detective aspect of the character and the riddler could be updated to be a serial killer who is tormenting Gotham with letters on the internet or being sent to the news outlets.

yeh thats a good idea, I think it needs to be left for a few years though and not be rushed into just to capitalise quickly on the success of the 2nd, let the buzz (which is still raging) die down. Theres still alot to tie up, everything in Bruce's life basically, and a villain interfering at this point could really push Batman over the edge. Potentially amazing.

i really like the idea of the Riddler angle, played Se7ven style, that would keep the franchise dark. It would be a bad idea to introduce Bane somewhere along the line, but please, no enemy cluster like spiderman 3. Wouldn't it be great if Bane crushed Batman to near death and someone like Robin, Catwoman, Nightwing or Superman came to help? Ok now I'm dreaming...

Seems like what we've been hearing and knew already, although he was like this after begins...without a doubt we'll get a new bat-movie in the next 3-4 years, if *touches wood in hope he doesnt* decide not to it will not be the end of the world, hes not the only guy in the world who can do a good batman, if they keep goyer (maybe even chris' bro) doing story and let someone else have a crack adapting Nolan world in their own image and stick to the blueprint, i dont see how it can go wrong, whatever happens im sure the internet will crash after the amount of "not good as the dark knight" postings and blogs.

THAT guy from Saw makes me think of the riddler or atleast anyother batman villain. Anyway I would be fine with him bowing out at this point. He did a good job getting the franchise back on its feet now he can step aside and let someone else have a go at it.

Even though Nolan is keeping these films based in reality...I would like to see Man-Bat. It could be done(Bram Soker's Dracula from 1992).

i hope we dont see the riddler, hes always just been a poor mans joker. catwoman was done well already, as was penguin, whos a crap character anyway imo. poison ivy is a good choice, done right she could inject some element of fantasy into the world..but not overload like clayface or manbat would
