The Dark Knight Rises is an upcoming epic superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan and written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film will be the third installment in Nolan's Batman film series, and is a sequel to Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Lucius Fox, respectively. The film will take place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and will introduce the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane—portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy—two villains from the Batman mythology.

Nolan was initially hesitant about returning to the series for a third time, but agreed to come back after developing a story with his brother and David Goyer that he felt would conclude the series on a satisfactory note. Filming has taken place across the world, including locations in India, London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, Newark, and Pittsburgh. Nolan is utilizing IMAX cameras for more of the filming to optimize the quality of the picture. As with The Dark Knight, viral marketing campaigns began early during production to help promote the upcoming film. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada on July 20, 2012, by Warner Bros.

Is it just me or does bane sound like he has the latin accent? I was hoping the accent would be there in the movie.

Is it blasphemous to say that I think Tom Hardy's Bane will be on-par with Ledger's Joker?

Selina Kyle/Catwoman, is nothing special. If you've seen the leaked pics, then you've seen how she looks. There were only two shots of her in the footage that followed the prologue. One in the Catwoman suit, and the other [MILD SPOILER WARNING] in an orange prison jumpsuit.

I have to agree with prettynuclear. I didn't find it the least bit intense. Something just seemed to be missing to me and I can't stand Bane's voice. Disappointed and even less optimistic about things now.

This movie is going to be AMAZING!! Chris nolan really knows how to use a camera to make it an epic scene. I loved TDK prologue but the music is more intense in this one. 2012 is near.

Watching a bootleg doesn't do it ANY justice whatsoever! This needs to be experienced in an IMAX theater. It's a rush! Superb image quality.

Saw the Prologue tonight. Unbelievable.

Anyone who reported that Bane had a British dialect has clearly never met someone from England. If anything, the accent is Slavic, or Russian based - and since it's strained it works perfectly.

What's even better is that since Tom Hardy wears a mask over his mouth the eyes become the forefront of conveying emotion. Did anyone notice those black pupils, almost like a shark.

Has anyone noticed in Nolan's Batman films that every plan staged by the villain(s) goes precisely on time? I mean, what a dedicated staff!

Also, got two t-shirts out of the deal.
