BATMAN v SUPERMAN's Doomsday Was Supposed To Evolve Into Having His Comic Accurate Appearance

Doomsday's appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has become a sticking point for fanboys, but filmmaker Zack Snyder has now explained how he planned to make the villain look more comic accurate!

To mark the four-year anniversary of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and to give us something to enjoy during these testing times), filmmaker Zack Snyder recently held a live commentary for the DC Comics movie. We've already covered many of the biggest reveals, but he's now shared some cool new details about Doomsday.

A combination of poor visual effects and a questionable design upset a lot of fans, but it sounds like Snyder was trying to channel the comic books throughout the course of this epic final battle.

Screen Rant reports that, "In his commentary, Snyder states that the character's bone growths are meant to evolve him to make him look like the classic comic book iteration that fans have come to know and love." That was certainly the case by the time Doomsday killed the Man of Steel, but he still wasn't as faithful to the comic book version fanboys know and hate.

One of Snyder's biggest mistakes with Batman v Superman was dropping the ball with Doomsday as fan-art has proved that it wouldn't have taken much to make him look so much better.

The filmmaker tried, though, and must have had his reasons for re-designing the villain for this battle against Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. His appearance aside, Doomsday's attack was fun to watch, and something it's easy enough to forgive Snyder for doing!

That's all the *new* information? We've known this for the past four years, though?

Snyder Cut of BVS:
Doomsday digivolve to COMIC ACCURATE LOOK

TBH BVS had a budget of 300 mil, how da fuq did he not have time/money to make that happen? We all know where the money for the film went:

That is indeed true, by the time Snyder would've been done with Doomsday's boney transformation, we would've seen a 35 foot long bone sticking out of the smooth area at his crotch.

I see why @RubyGoldstone deleted her article -- Josh wanted everything that was in it so he could make individual articles and get more clicks.

Stealing someone else's article? That's a new kinda hackjob.

@MosquitoFarmer - yeah SUPER frustrating. I could tell watching the movie that we were one transformation away from the REAL Doomsday. Just one. And they took that away. I came away pissed. Like how can they do that? I don't care how cult classic people make this movie seem, keeping the real doomsday from showing really makes this unwatchable for me.

@MutantEquality - Micheal Shannon's Zod even had a goatee, which was more than enough to justify Doomsday's hiving his classic beard look, which is one of his most noticeable features.

Yeah and in 2018 he stated that it's not the actual Doomsday from the Comics, that one still exists out there in the DCEU somewhere. Snyder changes his story whenever a wind blows, it's about time he moved on from this, it's beginning to get kinda sad for him.

I've noticed the people claiming this movie as secretly the greatest CBM ever (in 10 years) never acknowledge Doomsday, for some reason.

Doesn't it happen in the movie? I remember seeing it and thinking they added it after the fact due to people complaining about his appearance in the trailer.

Sure it ain't the real Doomsday anyway. Snyder as stated previously that "the real Doomsday is out there somewhere".
