To mark the four-year anniversary of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and to give us something to enjoy during these testing times), filmmaker Zack Snyder recently held a live commentary for the DC Comics movie. We've already covered many of the biggest reveals, but he's now shared some cool new details about Doomsday.
A combination of poor visual effects and a questionable design upset a lot of fans, but it sounds like Snyder was trying to channel the comic books throughout the course of this epic final battle.
Screen Rant reports that, "In his commentary, Snyder states that the character's bone growths are meant to evolve him to make him look like the classic comic book iteration that fans have come to know and love." That was certainly the case by the time Doomsday killed the Man of Steel, but he still wasn't as faithful to the comic book version fanboys know and hate.
One of Snyder's biggest mistakes with Batman v Superman was dropping the ball with Doomsday as fan-art has proved that it wouldn't have taken much to make him look so much better.
The filmmaker tried, though, and must have had his reasons for re-designing the villain for this battle against Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. His appearance aside, Doomsday's attack was fun to watch, and something it's easy enough to forgive Snyder for doing!
