BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Video Interview With Producer Michael Uslan

If anyone deserves credit for bringing a more serious Batman to the screen in the 1980s, it's producer Michael Uslan, who was determined to be rid of the stigma attached to the character from the series of the 1960s. Now he's producing Batman vs. Superman, which he discusses in this video interview.

Tim's movies were about Bruce Wayne?!

The thing about Warner Bros is that they all actually care (especially the creative team behind the film) so even if they mess up its not their intention. Zack Snyder seems to be just as a fan as these characters as anyone else

Michael Uslan communicates my thoughts exactly. I think Ben Affleck will definitely pull off Bruce Wayne and most likely Batma'n. I can see it.

Hmm mid fourties Batman? Does he mean an after his prime Batman that is old and uses drones or battle seasoned world's greatest detective?

Not sure I'm enjoying where they are going with this, I just wish that we'd get a Batman at his prime film ONCE in a lifetime.

@yonny16

In Batman Returns, yeah I agree. He was in there a little and had his moments but was downplayed a lot compared to '89

If re watch Burton's films you may notice how little is Batman or Wayne on screen and how much Burton gives a FAQ about main character.

@Batman52

Nah, he was still a rookie inTDK, and that's the very reason why I hate TDKR: It was Nolan's chance to show Batman at his prime, he chose go with after his prime instead, and for some very non-Batman reason.

@Zauri

Tdk returns did it. The reason he did it was that crime was very low due to the Dent Act and why go out just to be chased anyways? At the end of TDK that whole speech summed up another reason why as well, so i dont understand why ppl didnt see that coming. He did help as Bruce Wayne obviously. For example, investing inthe Clean Energy project. He was still pretty active in the city but just not Batman until the last 3 years before tdkr when Bruce became a recluse along with Batman.

Burton was more interested in doing his Burtonworld concept for Batman than anything else.

His films were great for their era but the genre has passed him by.

Guys I have a theory on why they are aiming older Batman. Obviously he will be experienced and seasoned but he will play a big role in the Justice League films. And it will be one of his last movies. Why? Because they are going to end it where the mantle gets passed to...Terry McGinnis. WB wants Batman Beyond and they will get the Clark and Bruce relationship first out the way and develop it over time and then something happens where Terry takes the mantle. I'm calling it now. There's no other reason to put a 40 year Batman on screen but to setup Batman Beyond, Kingdom Come, or a TDKReturns Batman. Quote me now.
Rokyn
Rokyn - 2/6/2014, 9:53 PM
Because if you want a chance at a DCCU and you cast an 40 year old actor playing a 40 year old major DCCU character, then you are pretty much shooting yourself in the foot before you even begin. I still don't understand why they went older.

@RamonSuarez:
The first Batman Burton put a lot of effort into creating Gotham. A lot of design elements from that work made it back into comics. The entire design esthetic of the Animated Series Gotham was lifted from the 89 movie as well. Sure its heavily influenced by his tastes but there's a lot of stylized stuff in there as well, modernized/art-deco/gothic, Lang's Metropolis shines through for example, something Burton hadn't done before and hasn't since.

Batman Returns is definately 'Burtonworld' though.

I don't like this new Bruce Wayne being in his mid 40s. There has to be a reason why he is this age, and I don't think I'm going to like it.
