'Brainiac' Likely To Be JUSTICE LEAGUE Villain; Details On BATMAN v SUPERMAN's 'Doomsday'
Forget Man of Steel 2; it sounds like we'll actually see Brainiac make his presence felt in 2017's Justice League movie! Meanwhile, more Doomsday details have been revealed, but how does the origin story of the Batman v Superman villain relate to Bizarro?
There are conflicting reports about the future of the Superman franchise, with some stating that Man of Steel 2 won't come together until the DCEU is fully up and running and others claiming it's set to happen any day now. Which of those will be the case remains to be seen, but it appears as if the information which surfaced about the sequel yesterday is outdated and most likely no longer relevant. Birth.Movies.Death (who have been reliable when it comes to their Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice coverage to date) believes that most of that has now been scrapped as, "every whisper I hear about Justice League contains the word 'Brainiac.' I suspect elements of this story were cannibalized for the eventual team-up as well as BvS, whose main physical threat is, I believe, a cross between traditional Bizarro and another well-known Superman villain."
That villain is Doomsday, a foe the site reiterates will be created from the remains of General Zod by Lex Luthor, something the Comic-Con trailer pretty much confirmed when we saw his body being delivered to LexCorp. This actually harkens back to the comic books as Lex created Bizarro after Infinite Crisis, while Doomsday was brought to life by Kryptonian science. In Batman v Superman, elements from both of those plot points will be touched on when, "Lex creates Doomsday while trying to muck with the genes of Zod's corpse."
