Production Designer Talks BATMAN/SUPERMAN And Declares Production Delay A Blessing

Commenting on the delay in production and reuniting with director Zack Snyder, Patrick Tatopoulos says it's taking a lot of energy, but he's excited to be the production designer on Batman Vs. Superman

Speaking with Flickering Myth recently, Patrick Tatopoulos discussed shepherding the Man of Steel sequel's production design, as well as the untitled Zack Snyder-directed film's delay in production.

“I’m working in Detroit on Batman vs. Superman and its super cold there,” he said. “At the end of 300: Rise of an Empire, I met with Zack [Snyder] and he said, ‘I'm going to do this movie and want you to design it.’ I was stunned. I thought, ‘Wow! Great.’ That’s where it started. This is a crazy huge movie. It’s taking a lot of energy but it’s something that someone like me needs to do in his lifetime. There’s a project that is close to me that I was going to direct and I said, ‘I need to do this,’” continues Tatopoulos. “Working with Zack again was important to me because he’s an amazing director with an incredible vision. Batman and Superman is something I’ve always wanted to do. I would have chosen one or both. I got the offer and jumped on it.” Speaking about the film's 10-month release date delay, Patrick Tatopoulos says, “The big chunk that we want to do for the movie is there but there is so much more to do. For me, it’s been a blessing that it has been pushed a little bit.” What do you think?

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Laurence Fishburne, the untitled Batman/Superman film is directed by Zack Snyder from a story by David S. Goyer and screenplay by Chris Terrio. The sequel is set for release May 6, 2016!

It's funny Patrick thinks it's cold here. It was really cold a few weeks back. I am getting ready to wear shorts here in Michigan. People from the warmer states don't know what real cold is. They only are here when it's warm but not when it freezing cold. So to them they think it's cold but to us Michiganders it's just a warm day.

I personally can't wait to see what Patrick does for this movie. I have been wanting him to work on Batman for years so to see he finally will is great news.

Dark City was one of those sleeper cult movies. It was night the entire movie. I loved it.

This guys got an impressive resume. We can expect a dark and gloomy looking gotham once again! that along with Zack Snyders visuals. this could easily be the best Looking cbm ever. Hopefully the cast and script can be as good.

Whoa didn't know he did dark city. That movie was really good and very underrated. I think it came out around the same time as the matrix and got completely overshadowed. Rufus Sewell was great in it!! Think inception with a smaller budget but equally as powerful a message/story...

I think this is a good pick up for zack. Esp since were going to see some Gotham city (hopefully) and I can see the dark city look working for Gotham vs the already established metropolis, or lack there of since it was mostly destroyed.

If pushing back a movie means a better quality film then how can anyone complain?
I'm so glad they're taking their time perfecting it.

I understand the fans being dissapointed with the push back, but as this proves, the crew must be pretty happy and calm now that they have more time to work on the movie and get a better quality.

This is all for the best, at the end of the day.

I just hope after this movie, Warner pushes for more movies more often, with one DC proyect each year. Justice League, Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman and the list can go on and on

Wow, how have I not seen that video before? She's gorgeous. It reminds me of a recent singing video with my girl Ali-Williams.

I'm in Ohio ( if you're a marvel fan let me explain- Ohio is the state south of Michigan which means if you look on a map and an adult or guardian points out Michigan for you Ohio would be "below/underneath" Michigan ) and it is effing cold brutal cold in this region
It's been warmer in Alaska and New York and Nova Scotia than the Midwest at times

And this movie is going to own
