BLACK ADAM Comic Book Covers Provide New Looks At Hawkman, Cyclone, Dr. Fate And Atom Smasher

Warner Bros./New Line released the first trailer for Black Adam yesterday, and while the footage mainly focused on Dwayne Johnson's titular antihero, we also got a few glimpses of the super-team known as the Justice Society (or JSA) in action.

Now, we have a much better look at Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan) thanks to a series of comic book covers (via THR).

To familiarize fans with these (relatively) obscure characters, DC Comics is launching The Justice Society Files, a four-issue series debuting in July from writer Cavan Scott and cover artist Kaare Andrews.

The first issue, Black Adam – the Justice Society Files: Hawkman No. 1, will go on sale July 5. Check out all four covers below along with the new trailer.

"From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure Black Adam. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods— and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill, One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the Mamma Mia! and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

Black Adam will be released nationwide on 21st October 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

@CyberNigerian - I've relegated this movie to those WWE movies in the early '00s but with a bigger budget. Anyone remember those?

Got to set expectations low.

@CyberNigerian - I mean, Deadpool's mask does look really good. I feel as though it should be the blueprint for masks with white eyes going forward.

Such a boring lead. I'm hoping to be surprised by the performance when I watch it but the trailer doesn't seem to instill much faith.

Cyclone looks goofy. A Fate helmet without the eye holes... a damn shame.
