Silver & Black will revolve around Spider-Man supporting characters Silver Sable and Black Cat (hence the title), a strange combination but one which stands a chance of being very cool if it's handled the right way. It's up to director Gina Prince-Bythewood to make sure that's the case when she takes the helm of the female-led superhero movie and she's now told Vulture where things currently stand.

"The strange thing is, I knew I was the best person for this," Prince-Bythewood explained after confirming that she's currently working on script revisions for the project. "Normally I get nervous regardless of what it is when I go into a meeting but with this, I saw the movie in my head as I was reading it, and it’s an exciting thing as a director when you know what you want to do with it. I was able to be so specific, so it was exciting in those meetings because everything I was talking about, they loved. We were feeding off each other." Despite that, Silver & Black still has no release date.

However, the director is hoping to start the casting process soon so that production can begin this fall. "I go to bed thinking about it, I wake up thinking about it, and during the day, I have my notebook where I’m jotting down ideas and visuals and music. It’s so up my alley in terms of these two female characters and who they are and what they’re about. It’s the perfect way for me to dive into the Marvel universe, to focus on these two women who I really respect and can’t wait to bring to life."

Are you guys excited for the spinoff? As always, be sure to let us know in the comments section below.

@Doomsday8888 - this is probably the least open-minded I have ever been with a comic movie. I can basically confirm that I will never be hyped, and I will never watch it unless I'm drunk and see it on tv.

so are these basically going to be the Netflix shows of Sony, from what Amy said, they are taking place in the MCU, but Marvel Studios wont be involved. it makes total sense for Black Cat & Sable, they dont need Spidey to exist (like the Netflix heroes can reference the rest of the MCU, but dont need to interact with them because their paths never cross)

but Venom makes no sense, he NEEDS to be featured in a Spidey movie first to be created & then go off & have his solo movie...something tells me they are going to change Venom far too much, [frick] it up completely

@dancingmonkey08 - They'll probably use the classic Black Fox/Silver Sable story and just replace Fox with Black Cat. Spiderman is a huge part of that story, so he'll surely show up.

If you think this movie won't feature Spider-Man, you're delusional. Neither character works without him.
Arguing over whether or not it is in the MCU is meaningless. Tom Holland will show up regardless of what you nickname this universe.

@rabid - Agreed. Sony is not going jump off the Marvel wave (as long as it's successful). They will use it to their advantage as much as possible. Maybe someday Fox will get the hint and do the same (at least with Fantastic Four). Although I think it might be hard to fit FF into the MCU.

Josh Wilding really does have no shame when it comes to stealing other peoples articles.

Such a pity people like him are allowed to be moderators on this site. Ruins it for everyone.

If Spidey isn't gonna be in it, I don't think it's going to be very very successful...
Just sayin'

Are you all stupid? Did you not see the video where Amy AND Kevin admit that it's all in the MCU? Don't let your pathetic fan grumbling blind you from reality. Sony is trying to build their own cinematic universe, but they're doing it as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just like how Netflix has done the same thing. It's a genius move on both sides and allows Sony to make their money, but Feige doesn't have to worry if those films flop.
