SILVER SABLE Writer Lindsey Beer Details Extent Of Her Work On Long-Delayed Marvel Movie (Exclusive)

Lindsey Beer is one of many writers to have taken a crack at Sony's Silver Sable movie, and talking to us about helming Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, the filmmaker reveals the extent she worked on the project.

Sony Pictures once planned to release Silver & Black, a movie that would have paired up Silver Sable and Black Cat for an adventure featuring Spider-Man villains like Scorpion, Tarantula, Chameleon, and even the Green Goblin.

The Old Guard's Gina Prince-Bythewood had signed up to direct the movie, only for the project to ultimately fall apart. Sony then pivoted to two individual solo projects for Silver & Black's leads, though it's unclear whether the plan was still for the two heroes to join forces down the line.

Lindsey Beer was among the writers attached to the Silver Sable movie for a time, and she elaborated on the extent of her involvement during a recent conversation with us about her work on Pet Sematary: Bloodlines

We'll be bringing you our full conversation early next week, but while we had Lindsey on the phone, we asked about her contributions to the Marvel movie and why she thinks it's failed to materialise.

"Yeah, you know...that was hard to speak to because that was a different kind of assignment," the filmmaker explains. "It was what we call a weekly in Hollywood where you’re just brought on for a couple of weeks to do some work on something."

"I don’t have a tonne of insights into what became of that project or what the problem was," Beer added. "I wish I could speak more to it, but I agree with you. It has such potential."

The majority of comic book fans would rather see characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat share the screen with Spider-Man, something which doesn't appear to be the plan for Sony's standalone Marvel Universe.

Silver Sable is, however, one of only a handful of characters who could go on adventures without crossing paths with the wall-crawler, so we'll see what happens. For now, we have the likes of Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter, and Venom 3 to look forward to.

In 1969, young Jud Crandall dreams of leaving his hometown behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that forever binds him to Ludlow.  Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped the town since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path.

Find out why sometimes dead is better when the terrifying prequel Pet Sematary: Bloodlines arrives to buy on Digital December 5, 2023 and debuts on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD December 19 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

@harryba11zack - honestly, I do think she could work as a Nick Fury-type character in the Sony Spider-Manless Spider-Man Universe (SSMLSMU?)

@bkmeijer1 - Disney marvel has already nailed that female Nick Fury angle, did you not see that ending credit scene of The Marvels?

@harryba11zack - I suppose so, but that's not the SSMLSMU. Guess both have Hailee Steinfeld though, so that's a plus

@Batmangina - You sir, are a man of High culture and exquisite taste. The mere fact you threw in the great but lesser known STARSLAYER comic in your comment shows you are someone with immense knowledge. I salute you sir!

@Nomis929 - Thank you, kind sir - real recognizes real.

Grell was amazing - like a Light Heavyweight Neal Adams - always gave kudos to DC for just letting him go apeshit with Warlord. His 80s indy stuff hits harder now that I'm old AF and can appreciate what he was doing - doesn't hurt to have the whole run to take in at once.

Kidding aside, Silver Sable is the one character I actually do wanna see in the Sony villainverse. Mostly because I think uniting the villains in the Wild Pack could work.

@EZBeast. HOLY SHIT dude! Just got home from Minus One. Absolutely f*cking LOVED it. Easily top 3 best Godzilla movies of ALL TIME, imo. It was even better than i expected. The only thing i wish it had was more Godzilla, and more of him destroying shit, that 15mins of him doing work was pure big G porn. I'm sooooo happy with this movie. Fantastic bday present to myself.

Marvel this and marvel that. This website has been so dang biased for so long. What is there today.....8 Marvel posts?

Guess what? Nobody cares about it anymore because the 'brand' has been over-saturated and people, the general public, are done with it thus the bad tv shows' ratings (She-Haulk's ending was beyond ridiculous), and The Marvels.

I'm out....

Just imagine being an up-and-coming writer with a love for comic books, and getting invited to interview at a movie studio to potentially write a script for a Spider-Man movie, and after shaking hands and signing contracts, Avi Arad nonchalantly says “Oh, and Spider-Man can’t be in the movie. You can’t even reference the character. He just doesn’t exist in this world. But good luck writing your ‘Big Wheel’ movie. We’re hoping it’s really really good.”

The only thing that keeps me from wishing Marvel had the full film rights back for Spidey is the animated Spider-Verse films. Because everything Sony's done on the live-action front the last decade has been absolute garbage.
