BLACK WIDOW: Kevin Feige Says The Movie Will Make Us See INFINITY WAR And ENDGAME In A New Light

In a new interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has revealed that what happens in Black Widow will make us view the events Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame totally differently...

While Black Widow will shed some light on what Natasha Romanoff was up to during the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War (not to mention her origin story), some fans have questioned if there's really any point to the movie. Well, according to Kevin Feige, we can expect it to show both the latter film and Avengers: Endgame in a "new light."

"It was about four years ago as we were working on Infinity War and Endgame at the same time, we knew that we wanted to bring her story to a conclusion in the most heroic way possible in Endgame, but also that we wanted to explore a part of her life that we hadn't seen before," he explained.

"It occurred to us that we had seen her adventures in the Avengers movies, but a lot of stuff happened in between those movies that we never saw, we didn't hear about, we didn't learn about. And [with] that, we wanted to do a movie with Scarlett Johansson because she is Natasha Romanoff and not do a story with a younger Black Widow for the whole film."

Reading between the lines, it sounds like we'll follow a younger Black Widow for at least some of the film, which makes sense based on what the trailers have shown. However, it also sounds like the movie will have an impact on the MCU as a whole (we recently noted that Natasha appeared to be wearing Yelena Belova's vest in Avengers: Infinity War).

"[We] had this thought of exploring a little bit of her past that we hadn't seen before and how that impacts the adventure she had between Civil War and Infinity War," Feige added. "And in fact, there are things that she does in Infinity War and Endgame that you'll see in a new light once you see the Black Widow."

Black Widow could end up being a far more important movie than it's previously been given credit for based on these remarks, and it will obviously be interesting to see how things play out for Natasha.

I'm kind of surprised by Yelena's accent and voice. A lot of folks wanted Natasha to be full-blown evil-Bond-girl Russian (but I always thought it made sense for her to be so outwardly American, since she's a superspy). But Yelena is definitely the pendulum swinging wildly the other way.

I wonder if they'll dial it back for her future appearances like they have a lot of accents, or this is going to stick.

@Spock0Clock - Yeah, it seemed kinda contradictory in a way to me, as well. Like, these are superspies SO WELL TRAINED that they can imitate American accents flawlessly, if judging by Natasha's accent (or lack thereof)... and then there you have not one but two superspies from the same superspy group, with Russian accents. IDK man.

@Spock0Clock - Yelena probably hasn't been across the pond like Natasha has, so that's why her English is heavily-accented. But I think the bigger question is: Why are they speaking English at all? haha

Wonder if we can figure it out. Feige left hints
In infinity war, a common Nat theme was her penchant for keeping a family unit and wanting to stick together... Especially with scarlet witch. As in a Sisterhood... Something we will see in her solo movie too. Here are a few examples

She snapped at Wanda on the quinjet, for going off on her own "I thought we were sticking together" (forgot exact quote)

She jumped in to fight proxima during the final wakanda battle to help Wanda, "she's not alone"

Perhaps a decision made in her solo movie around splitting up, leads to something tragic happening to one of her allies.

That better be some serious light because Black Widow barely did anything in Infinity War and Endgame

I'm thinking it will shed light on why she was so willing to sacrifice herself for the Soul Stone
