COMICS: New BLACK WIDOW Series On The Way From DAREDEVIL Creative Team

It's a good time to be a Black Widow fan. Not only is Miss Romanov's very own YA novel being released next week, but it's just been announced that she'll also be getting a new ongoing comic run next year from Mark Waid and the rest of the Daredevil creative team.

EW has an in-depth interview with Waid, Samnee and Marvel editor Jake Thomas which sheds some light on what we can expect from the series, so be sure to check that out. We also have the cover of the first issue and some character artwork below.

Yes this art is horrible I mean they should take back his Eisner and Harvey awards. Y'all too [frick]ing much.

Any who love the creative team, love the character and her last book was good with Noto and Edmondson so I'm down.

Waid on Black Widow can only be a great thing. Dude has insane talents. And Samnee's is unique and I like it.

I like his art, but I can see why it wouldn't be to everyone's tastes.

AND THOSE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!;)

Written by Mark Waid?

Shit, better check it out then.

Samnee's art is stellar and @XF14's opinions officially become invalid until he learns more about comic books.

If anything, I'd say the coloring isn't working out great. My guess is someone is trying to steal Jordie Bellaire's style but can't hold a candle to her. Or if it's Jordie's coloring, she had an off-day.

Comicbookmovie.com home of retarded people who think they know comics. I think I'm liking comicbookresources more now because they don't just spew retarded words out on the Internet.

This is considered bad art? I don't get it, what's wrong with the art here? Looks pretty good to me, unless you guys are talking about Black Widows design.

XF14's favorite comic artist is probably Rob Liefeld.

Some people aren't into indie comic art on superheroes.

It does seem simple, but on closer inspection it's quite detailed.

But I'm guessing Black Widow isn't gonna be a splashy book.

Count me in, Black Widow is my fave, but no I'm not a big fan of that art.

I'm a big Samnee fan, but the Widow does not sell books. I don't know why they try time and time again to make her popular. Give up already!

@Syringe I typically just read my favorite characters' comics regardless of the creative team, and only rarely pick up a new title because of the creative team, and essentially never stop reading a character's comic because I dislike the new writer or artist.

@ PantherKing - yeah CBR has a much better community than here with some great discussions going on. I find myself coming here less and less. Too many trolls circulating around these days. Manti and Dex alone make this site unbearable at times.

People have different opinions, who knew?

Samnee less detailed line art complements his knack for blocky colors and stark contrast, which I particularly like. Stylized minimalistic inking does not equal bad art.

It's like people who think that their 6 year old niece can draw better than Picasso because they think he's only about abstract faces.

Are there any comics in the "all new" thing that I should pick up? I'm thinking Dr. Strange, but I am so on the fence about the rest.

And I suppose Jamie Hernandez can't draw either - all his stuff looks like an Archie comic?
David Aja?
Fiona Staples?
Even Kirby and Ditko must be outside your comfort zone, yes? WAY to stylized and simplistic those two?

I wish we had LESS painters, and MORE straightforward comic book artists.
More Allreds
and Javier Pulidos, please and thank you!
Keep the variety coming.
It doesn't ALL have to look like an Alex Ross portfolio.
