We've been talking about a Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson here on CBM since at least 2015, but the movie is finally set to commence production, and will heading our way on July 29th, 2022.

It's hard to believe in some ways, but The Rock himself just shared an insane workout photo alongside confirmation that cameras start rolling this week. Whether that means we can look forward to set photos remains to be seen (we saw quite a few when Shazam! was filming), but a first look could be imminent.

Black Adam ready," Johnson says in the Instagram post below while showing off his incredible physique. "It’s always the work we quietly put in when no one is watching that changes the game. Grateful for the grind. (and the face of my Warrior Spirit always watching my back." He then mentioned the movie with a hashtag and confirmed, "Production kicks off this week."

This is a positive, long overdue update, and had COVID-19 not derailed production, chances are we'd have been heading to theaters to watch the DC Comics adaptation later this year.

The rest of the Black Adam cast includes Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell, Pierce Brosnan, Marwan Kenzaria, and Sarah Shahi.
