The international figures are in for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's second weekend in theaters, and Ryan Coogler's powerful MCU sequel has roared past $500 million at the global box office.

After taking in $288M domestic and $258.3M overseas, the movie now sits at $546.3M, and moves into position as the seventh highest-grossing film of 2022. Can it possibly match its predecessor's success by passing $1 billion? We wouldn't bet against it!

If you haven't seen Wakanda Forever yet, spoilers follow.

To mark the milestone, Marvel Studios has debuted a new poster featuring Shuri (Letitia Wight) suited-up as the new Black Panther.

Though it was fairly obvious to anyone keeping an eye on the marketing that T'Challa's little sister would be the one to take up the mantle, Marvel did attempt to keep it under wraps for as long as possible, and this is the first official promo image with Shuri in the costume sans mask.

Check out the poster below, along with a new TV spot.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.

Would have been on track to hit a billion if they had recasted.

Now it’ll underperform it’s predecessor by hundreds of millions.

Finally took it in last night.

Defo the best of phase 4 and dare I say better than the 2018 movie. Its a shame that death often puts things in a different perspective for the movie going experience, but it was really well done. Even the 3rd act wasn't as VFX heavy as usual MCU cgi fest. It was defo still there. But used better I found.

@UniqNo - I found it far more compelling and nuanced than the first film myself

@McMurdo - Exactly. Not your typical sequel. And I think all the other performers leveled up here. Even in the cameo scene in the ancestral plane. Such a good scene.

@DrReedRichards - The same people saying 550 million after only 10 days is "underperforming" are probably the same saying that a certain 200 million dollar budget movie is a success with a laughable 366 million after 5 weekends.

@Moriakum -

Gee, I wonder what the pattern might be...
