Warner Bros. Developing BOOSTER GOLD/BLUE BEETLE Movie; Greg Berlanti To Direct
Are you ready for the first buddy cop superhero movie? Well, in a surprising addition to their existing slate, Warner Bros. are developing a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle team-up movie which will see Arrow and The Flash vet Greg Berlanti in the director's chair...
The Tracking Board reveals that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are set to star in a movie together, news which hardly comes as a surprise considering the fact that Warner Bros. has been flirting with some sort of adaptation featuring the characters for years now. Blue Beetle very nearly got his own series during the Smallville days, while there was serious talk of a Booster Gold show on SyFy for a while not too long ago. The studio clearly feels that they're better suited to the big screen though, and Arrow and The Flash regular Greg Berlanti is set to direct and executive produce.
If you need a refresher course on each of these characters, be sure to click on the link below. Here's the really interesting stuff though; the movie has been pitched as a "superhero buddy cop movie" with comedy a big emphasis, something which is sure to make this release stand out from the darker parts of the DC Extended Universe. Warner Bros. are clearly hoping to recreate the success of Marvel movies like Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, but Booster Gold/Blue Beetle will be important to this world as the site adds, "The dynamic duo are also members of the Justice League and are being planted now to appear in a future JL movie down the road."
Another interesting titbit is the fact that Berlanti has a story credit on the upcoming Green Lantern and The Flash movies. Are you guys looking forward to this DC Comics team-up movie?
