CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Rumor Reveals Two Characters Who WON'T Appear In The Movie - SPOILERS

Captain America: Brave New World will undergo some significant changes next year, but two scoopers have debunked claims of at least two MCU characters appearing in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel.

By JoshWilding - Dec 14, 2023 10:12 AM EST

Yesterday, the news broke that Marvel Studios has tapped Moon Knight consulting producer and writer Matthew Orton to pen additional scenes for Captain America: Brave New World

There have been rumblings about issues with the movie for a while now and, while reshoots are the norm for MCU projects, the fact this follow-up to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has moved from 2024 to 2025 suggests a great deal of work is needed to get it where it needs to be.

In terms of plot details, very little has been confirmed. However, based on set photos, we're expecting Sam Wilson to find a new ally in Joaquín Torres's Falcon and to clash with both the Serpent Society and Red Hulk (with The Leader pulling the strings somewhere in the background).

Despite talk of Captain America: Brave New World setting the stage for a World War Hulk project, scoopers @CanWeGetToast and @MyTimeToShineH have cast doubt on that by today claiming She-Hulk will not appear in the movie.

They've also both debunked recent rumblings that Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky. This is a shame, of course, but She-Hulk is expected to get a second season on Disney+, with Bucky returning in Thunderbolts

"There’s a huge amount of pressure," Anthony Mackie said earlier this year about headlining his own Captain America movie. "You throw my dumb ass in the water, and you’re like, ‘Swim.’ I'm like, ‘Sh*t.’ But at the same time, it’s all in the state of mind. I’ve been given a great cast. I’ve been given a great group of people who I’ve worked with before."

"It’s more so about his ability to connect and counsel" the actor added of his approach to Cap. "He’s not as rash to bear arms as Steve Rogers was. Having a super serum makes you impossible to beat, so your answer to everything is to fight it out. Whereas Sam Wilson can actually die pretty easily."

"[Brave New World] picks up pretty much right after [The Falcon and The Winter Soldier], with Sam back in the fold of, How do I fit into this superhero world?"

Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins. Julius Onah helms the movie from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, though the director is believed to have also taken a pass at it.

Captain America: Brave New World arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.

The movie will have a budget of around $250 million after reshoots.
Add promotion and it will be around $300 minimum.
I am lowballing this.
It would have to make $600 to break even.
It won't.
Guaranteed bomb.
I see this making around $450 million if it is a good film.

@MarvelZombie616 - Well, Marvel Studios looks like their making time to make Captain America: Brave New World great. Decided to go switch to Quality over quick and cheap.

Good sign for setting up a World War Hulk movie.

General public won't be interested in this in the slightest. Even as a comic book reader I don't think of him as Cap, Evans was just too perfect.

@MarvelousMarty - I have a feeling you're right. And personally I don't really find a regular human version of Cap all that interesting either. I would have been pretty happy had they just gave Sam the serum, or Bucky got the Cap role instead.

Not looking forward to this movie and by the time it does come out, most of the actors will be to old.

I say "Scrap It" and start down a new path.

Not having any hulk in this is a bad idea. This movie needed to be stacked because no one cares about Falcon. Shit even including Yelena and Bucky for a thunderbolts set up would’ve helped.

Bucky not being in it is an odd choice.

It’s going to have to take some great trailers to get me interested in this. The Cap trilogy is some of the best in the MCU. I sure hope this one doesn’t tarnish that legacy.

Good! It'll keep the story in-line. We don't need more "cameo porn," and multiple arcs to take focus away from the main story. We've seen Bucky and Sam vibing already. She-Hulk is intertwined with Daredevil, which by extension, that means Echo, Kingpin. Her story is even reaching into the world of Shang-Chi/Dr. Strange.

Let's get back to concise, and good storytelling. Not pad these movies with fluff bullshit.

Not having Bucky, even for just a scene or two at the beginning or end, is a bad choice.

I get that this is Sam's movie. But Bucky has been such a critical figure in both Steve and Sam's stories. Showing his relationship and dynamic with the new Captain America seems like a no brainer to reinforce Sam's status to audiences who might not connect with Harrison Ford's Ross or other newly introduced characters. At this point in the MCU, it would be in their best interest to lean a bit on the "legacy" characters they have to move the story forward.

Just a really odd choice if true.
HammerLegFoot
HammerLegFoot - 12/14/2023, 11:37 AM
The one thing that bugs me about this is that fact they keep saying Red Hulk is going to be in it. That has never been confirmed. Just because Ross is in it with The Leader in it doesn't mean he's going to turn into Red Hulk. I'm not saying that he isn't going to be in it but to continuously say he's going to be in it is bad. Now when the movie comes out and then there's no sign of Red Hulk, everyone's gunna react like how they did with MOM.

Boy oh boy oh boy is there a lot riding on this for Marvel. I’d argue that this may be the single most important movie they have coming out until the next Avengers films. They need to prove that the can elevate existing tier 2 hero’s to Evan’s and RDJ levels and that there’s still gas left in the tank in terms of Marvel as a studio.

The problem is that Mackie isn’t a massive drawl in terms of movie star power and Harrison Ford has kinda already sullied his appeal/reputation with the modern movie going audience bc of SW:FA, and Indy. Blade Runner was a decent hit but it had very little to do with his role(or should I say cameo) and that 1923 show was a complete dud, really showing how much of a relic from the past Ford is compared to Costner.

The biggest issue they face however is the fact that instead of this being seen as the next chapter in the MCU it’s going to be viewed counterfeit MCU with waaay too many derivative characters in it and no real fan favorites to make fans wanna see it. You’ve got the new cap, Red Hulk and the new falcon all showing up for the first time on the big screen.

If they were smart they would drop some SERIOUS fan service and introduce something or someone that really expands the MCU. They would need introduce the new Weapons Plus Program and do more than just hint at the introduction of the next Wolverine. Establish that there are now new government sponsored superhero teams in different counties like Alpha Flight, Excalibur(Britain’s Avengers with Captain Britain, Union Jack, maybe even Black Knight), Task Force X or even establish The Midnight Sons as a special task force who deals with supernatural threats. Give us something epic and super comic booky other than just rolling out more new C/D list characters who were created in the mid 2000’s
mountainman
mountainman - 12/14/2023, 12:07 PM
@BruceWayng - All good points.

I’d also argue that Sam is going to need some help to take out this threat. Civil War was as big as an Avengers movie and this almost should be too. We haven’t seen a big team up film since Endgame. It would make sense if this is the movie where the Avengers are somewhat reorganized.
Vigor
Vigor - 12/14/2023, 12:48 PM
@mountainman - agreed. I was theorizing this would be a mini avengers. But I'm not seeing any evidence to that. I would have loved for she hulk to make her big screen debut
mountainman
mountainman - 12/14/2023, 1:01 PM
@Vigor - I didn’t like the She Hulk show, but i’d be down to see her join a team up (as long as CGI was improved). It would have been fun if they would have built up to a West Coast Avengers post Endgame.
AvalonX
AvalonX - 12/14/2023, 2:58 PM
@mountainman - I always though of Cap 2 & 3 as Avengers 1.5 and 2.5. The thing they did well was giving Evans a great supporting cast. They did this in the comics too when Bucky was cap. They arent really helping Sam out by dumping caps support cast. Imagine what Black Widow, Sharon (without the stupid villain twist) and Bucky would do to help this movie. It would make more sense that its still a Cap movie. This makes zero sense. I would have even had old Steve in this.

Still can’t buy Falcon as Cap when he doesn’t have the “super soldier serum” powering him up. How is he supposed to take down super powered bad guys like cap or even throw the shield as hard?
AnthonyVonGeek
AnthonyVonGeek - 12/14/2023, 12:42 PM
@AnthonyVonGeek - how does he even catch the shield without shattering his hands or worse?
Vigor
Vigor - 12/14/2023, 12:46 PM
@AnthonyVonGeek - the shield redistributes energy. It's not like Kung Laos hat or something. So if falcon throws it with the strength of falcon, then it comes back at the same strength falcon threw it.

Make sense?
