As Captain America: New World Order continues to add to its impressive ensemble, the latest actor to join the cast is up-and-coming The Mindy Project star Xosha Roquemore.
Deadline broke the news, but details on her character are being kept under wraps (no surprise there). All we know is that Roquemore will have a "key role" in the Marvel Studios movie, which will follow the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ series.
Roquemore has appeared in the likes of Space Jam: A New Legacy, Sherman’s Showcase, Black Monday and Atlanta. This will be her biggest role to date.
Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson, aka the new Captain America.
Tim Blake Nelson will return as the Leader, while General "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) are also expected to make life difficult for our heroes. A recent rumor indicated that there might be as many as five villains, and that Jessica Chastain was being eyed to play the main antagonist (that's yet to be confirmed).
New World Order will also star Shira Haas as Israeli superheroine Sabra, the returning Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon. Julius Onah will direct from a script by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson.
The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
