New DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN And CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER Logos Revealed At D23

D23 has kicked off. During the event, Marvel Studios revealed new logos for the film Captain America: New World Order and the Disney+ Original Daredevil: Born Again.

Marvel Studios surprised audiences during SDCC 2022 with the reveal that a new Captain America film, Captain America: New World Order would be released in 2024. The film stars Anthony Mackie's as Sam Wilson, who took up the mantle of the Sentinel of Liberty in Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The company also announced Daredevil: Born Again, an 18-episode Disney+ series starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock.

The show will feature the return of Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin following his brief appearance in Hawkeye and his upcoming role in Marvel's Echo, starring Alaqua Cox. Daredevil's MCU-set adventure is also scheduled to be released in 2024. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding these projects but, as mentioned, new logos have been unveiled during D23, which provide the film and the show with a more colorful flair.

There are some things to take away from these logos. The first one is that, while font-wise, Captain America's appears to be the same as the one unveiled during SDCC 2022, the background wings make the title feel more distinctively Sam Wilson's. It's also quite colorful, which is appropriate, given the character's vibrant Captain America uniform.

During an appearance in Comicbook.com's Phaze Zero podcast, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore teased the challenges that Sam Wilson would be dealing with after becoming Captain America:

"I think, he's not Steve Rogers and I think that's a good thing, because to me, this new Cap is Rocky [Balboa]. He's going to be the underdog in any situation. He's not a super soldier. He's not a hundred years old. He doesn't have the Avengers. What happens with this guy who announces publicly, kind of without the support, 'I'm the new Captain America.' What happens next? I think it's fascinating. Because he's a guy. He's a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy. So, we're going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything. What makes somebody Captain America? Because I'm going to argue it's not being a super soldier. And I think we're going to prove that with [Anthony Mackie] and Sam Wilson."

The difficulties faced by Wilson as Captain America were already somewhat explored in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It was a fascinating side of the character, and having that expanded further is an enticing prospect.

Is The Daredevil Logo Teasing A Darker Take On Matt Murdock?

Daredevil's logo features the hero's signature double-D insignia in a dark shade of red. At first glance, the design could be teasing a somewhat dark take on Matt Murdock akin to how he was portrayed in his Netflix series. However, there is a slight possibility of the MCU's take on Daredevil leaning more lighthearted than his previous streaming iteration.

The character has a role in Disney+'s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Speaking with The Direct, She-Hulk series creator Jessica Gao explained how putting Murdock in the show allowed its creative team to present a lighthearted take on the character:

"[Charlie Cox] is so wonderful. [...] What was so fun about bringing him and Daredevil into our world is that people have already seen a Daredevil who is very dramatic, little bit on the heavy side, very dark, brooding. [...] And it was so fun to be able to do—and we do this with every character cameo from the MCU—is we take them from the environment that you know them from, which is a much more dramatic and action-oriented role, much more on the serious side, and we bring them into our world and they get to play in the tone of She-Hulk. And they got to explore and we get to see a lighter side of that character."

Of course, it's important to note that Gao was specifically referring to how they were able to treat Matt Murdock in She-Hulk's world. As such, the MCU could still give the character a darker edge in his upcoming series.

Captain America: New World Order is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 3, 2024. Daredevil: Born Again will be released on Disney+ in Spring 2024.
