ECHO: Charlie Cox & Vincent D'Onofrio Confirmed To Return As Daredevil And Kingpin!

Though we all figured as much anyway, the trades have now made it official: Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are set to reprise their respective roles as Daredevil and The Kingpin for Echo.

After a number of persistent rumors, THR has confirmed that both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio will return as Daredevil and The Kingpin, respectively, for the currently shooting Disney+ Echo series.

D'Onofrio recently reprised the role of Wilson Fisk for Hawkeye, while Cox made a brief appearance as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Of course, both actors debuted as the classic Marvel Comics characters in the now defunct Netflix Daredevil series, which ran for three seasons.

We still don't know for certain how these bitter enemies will be reintroduced in The MCU, but "sources say Echo will include a plotline in which Daredevil, whose alter ego is blind attorney Matt Murdoch, is searching out a former ally." This would appear to confirm a recent rumor that The Man Without Fear will be looking for Jessica Jones, which may well open the door to the likes of Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher following suit down the road.

It's a little easier to predict what Fisk's role will be. In the Hawkeye season finale, Wilson's "niece" Maya Lopez shot him after discovering that the crime-lord was responsible for the death of her father. Reports indicate that the Kingpin will be sporting an eye-patch upon his return after taking the bullet in the eye.

Echo will follow Lopez (Cox) as her life in New York as a gang leader catches up with her as she returns to her hometown and reconnects with her Native American roots. Zahn McClarnon will also reprise his role, with new castmembers including Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene. Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie direct episodes with Marion Dayre serving as head writer.

The series is expected to bow in 2023.

Thank you, sweet baby Jesus. Even when the latest cinematic release disappoints, there's always another corner of this franchise to look forward to instead.

@supermanrex -

I'm happy you're happy, man. Unironically, it's the reason I tolerate Ragnarok. Precisely because it made Thor popular again. It's just not for me, that's all.

@DrReedRichards - i hear ya. i do think they need to maybe reign in the sillier bits a little before they start to parody themselves. just keep the balance between gravitas and comedy the way it was before they get out of control.

so you're telling me the Kingpin survived the off-screen gunshot in the scene where they didn't show his body?

NinnesMBC - 7/7/2022, 12:48 PM
@Spidey91 - Since the gun shot was just heard and we didn't see it it's possible they will reveal he tried to grab her hand and the bullet instead went to his eyes.

In the end they're sticking to the comic book.

@NinnesMBC - well, the rumors claim he'll have just one eyepatch instead of two. which, makes sense, we only heard one gunshot.

NinnesMBC - 7/7/2022, 12:50 PM
@Spidey91 - True, that's a key detail that has been slipping off my head. It keeps intact the continuity.

@NinnesMBC - not sure if it's true, but supposedly Kingpin is sporting an eyepatch on the set of Echo.

Yeah I figured this would be the case as there wouldn't be much of reason to watch an Echo show without them imo.

They've got to put these two characters in Echo,so people will watch it.

@marvel72 - And it's working like a charm cause I had zero interest in it and now I'm 100% gonna watch it.

@Fogs - Exactly,no one says how Echo is their favourite character from Hawkeye, so put Daredevil and Kingpin in it, I'll watch.

Kingpin was the only reason I sat through Hawkeye.

@marvel72 - This was always going to be the case because NOBODY asked for Echo. And they are using her show to do a soft reboot of the Netflix shows and I'm here for it. This saves time and money from having to give each hero a new show.

I just finished watching the last of Daredevil last night. I have to imagine that not all from that series will be canon, especially with the supposed finality of the Kingpin’s criminal career and the deal to keep Matt’s secret and to keep the others safe. I am still very excited for their formally being a part of the MCU in the hopes of more Daredevil through his own series or appearances in other MCU productions.
Origame
Origame - 7/7/2022, 1:03 PM
@RolandD - idk. Even in that finale, they suggested the deal was just delaying the inevitable and Fisk would return. Maybe Vanessa died off screen and Fisk decided to just break it off.
RolandD
RolandD - 7/7/2022, 2:49 PM
@Origame - Maybe but then what’s to stop him from outing Matt or going after Karen, Foggy or any of their loved ones. I like that Matt is one of very few heroes in the MCU that actually has a secret identity. We will see but I am just happy that they are back. I also wanna know where Netto is. He constantly used to say we would never see these iterations of the characters or the same actors playing the part again with all of his inside knowledge of the shows and industry. 😂
Origame
Origame - 7/7/2022, 2:55 PM
@RolandD - I don't think it's a good strategy to just release that Matt is daredevil. It's obviously gonna be hard to believe since he's blind and Fisk is clearly a biased perspective given what Matt did to him. Fisk is smart and knows patience. I can see him benefiting from this once he builds himself up agaib.
RolandD
RolandD - 7/7/2022, 3:20 PM
@Origame - Fair enough. We will see you before too long hopefully.

Spidey91
Spidey91 - 7/7/2022, 12:52 PM
betting on the already (mostly) beloved Defenders cast is the right move, specially at a time where the MCU is kinda moving on from its legacy characters, at least for the moment. and it's also an opportunity to properly make them an actual part of the universe instead of a canonically ambiguous separate corner of it.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 7/7/2022, 1:03 PM
@Spidey91 - I get the impression they're recasting Cage and Danny. They may just launch that as a whole separate Heroes for Hire thing, both because of Coulter's age and because Finn Jones was the weak link

More Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio is an awesome thing!
