Walt Disney Home Entertainment, in collaboration with Paramount Home Media Distribution, has officially announced that, for the first time ever, they will be releasing Captain America: The First Avenger on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

While a release date hasn't been formally unveiled, Best Buy does have a February 26th launch date attached.

The First Avenger is just the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure from their Phase 1 and Phase 2 catalog to be re-released on 4K Ultra HD, following The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron; and while fans will probably have to wait a little longer, it seems increasingly likely that every MCU entry will ultimately make its way to the premium format.

After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals. Captain America leads the fight for freedom as the ultimate weapon against evil. When a terrifying force threatens everyone across the globe, the world's greatest soldier wages war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

Captain America: The First Avenger features:
Director: Joe Johnston
Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter
Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt/Red Skull
Tommy Lee Jones as Chester Phillips
Sebastian Stan as James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes
Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark
Neal McDonough as Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan
Derek Luke as Gabe Jones
Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine
Kenneth Choi as Jim Morita
Bruno Ricci as Jacques Dernier
JJ Feild as James Montgomery Falsworth
Toby Jones as Arnim Zola
Richard Armitage as Heinz Kruger
Natalie Dormer as Lorraine
Jenna Coleman as Connie
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury

Captain America: The First Avenger arrives on 4K Ultra HD on February 26

In my top 3 MCU films. Along with Cap 2 and Cap 3.

@TheManWithoutFear - Same here. It's tied with Avengers in that number 3 spot but if you had to twist my arm I would choose CA:TFA.

I love all the Captain America movies but, unfortunately, this will probably be another 4k sourced from a 2k intermediate.

I haaaattteeee the new MCU Blu Ray covers. The movies lose some of their originality when they all are branded the same way imo

@DaHyro - Collect only the originals then and your collection will be just as you like it. Some like uniformity and will collect the new stuff so their collection looks consistent. Personally, as a collector, I'm always fvcked when multiple editions come out because I want both. Lol
