Hail Hydra! Earlier this month, the world's largest online retailer, Amazon.com, posted its biggest quarterly loss since 2012. For many years, the online mega-retailer has been basking in its own good fortunes but now that times are tough they are playing hardball to squeeze out a few pennies more from their suppliers. In June, Amazon went after Warner Bros.. They blocked DVD pre-order sales of The Lego Movie, 300: Rise of an Empire, Transcendence, and Winter's Tale. That dispute was later resolved. And now, Amazon is focusing their attention on Disney. It is being reported that Amazon has blocked DVD pre-order sales for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Maleficent, Muppets Most Wanted and Million Dollar Arm. In the short term these tactics may benefit Amazon's profit margins, but it's also sacrificing its customer satisfaction. At this moment, consumers should consider looking at Best Buy and Target for these items.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," available early on Digital 3D and HD August 19, and on 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand September 9, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

Yeah, because this totally isn't going to backfire on Amazon. *rolls eyes*

Do they seriously think Disney has something to lose here? Let Amazon do what they want to do...at the end of the day, Disney can take the hit. Amazon most likely can't.

Ahhh, that's why I couldn't pre-order it on Amazon. That's ok, I got a Walmart discount AND Walmart is selling 5 different covers for the 3D Blu Ray.

Amazon really are just, making themselves out to be a greedy, shady corporation (shocking, I know)
Dodging taxes, now these tactics?

It's stupid because they're gonna end up loosing money while people shop for it elsewhere.

I noticed Amazon doing this with Cap3 a few weeks back. I attributed it as the reasons why this article says. I buy mostly from Amazon but in this case, I'm heading to Best Buy or another retailer on Sept 9 to get the movie. Amazon just lost a guaranteed sell from me. The same goes for Agents of SHIELD: S1 which also seems to not be taking pre-sales.

No problem, I do have the 3d blu-ray on pre-order from Amazon.co.uk - but if they don't deliver it on time on release day I will get it either from Sainsburys,Asda or Play.com/ or any of the other dirt cheap mail-order businesses.

Amazon's not the only game in town - about time those idiots there at Amazon's gilded towers fricking realised this. Their loss.

Hahahaha

The media was worshipping amazon for its low-profit policies
20/20 was sooooo happy with those delivery drone prototypes !!
- now the rubber meets the road !
They still have to survive in the shit economy ! It's a bitch ain't it?

The other day google announced that they were teaming with Barnes and noble - to compete with amazon.
Too bad google=NSA/ government / satan.

Your all pointing fingers at amazon but think about it in first person, would you be pissed if the company you worked for is making more and more money, your doing twice the work you did when you started, without a raise in salary??

There are some real retards shopping at Walmart today.

Saw a "PRO UNION" bumper sticker - ON a HONDA. At a Walmart.
Same Walmart I saw a car with both "pro life" AND "probama" bumper stickers.

I think it's called cognitive dissonance

I always hit Best Buy on release day. They never run out, and they are just as cheap if not cheaper then amazon. I've bought all 3 seasons of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray for somewhere around $30 each, every time they came out.

Do you have a link to any info about Walmart having different covers on the 3d blu ray release? I have seen that best buy will have the steelbook and target will have a making of feature that you can watch online but I havnt been able to find anywhere that says what the walmart exclusive might be

Yeah, I was looking for it about a month ago and sent Amazon a message about it, knowing why they weren't offering it. And of course, I got a total BS answer. They didn't acknowledge the distribution drama with Disney at all.
