Funko Celebrates The "Year Of The Shield" With New CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Pop

Funko has declared 2021 the "Year of the Shield" ahead of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's premiere on Disney+, and that will kick off with an awesome new Captain America: The Winter Soldier Pop Vinyl.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is fast approaching, and in that series, we'll be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America. While John F. Walker is expected to be the first "hero" to wield the shield following Steve Rogers decision to travel back in time and grow old, it's likely Sam Wilson will ultimately be the one to take over the role just as the original Cap wanted.

So, a big year lies ahead for Cap, and Funko is celebrating that with "Year of the Shield."

The first of what looks set to be a wave of new shield-themed Pops is Bucky Barnes as the villainous Winter Soldier from 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Your guess is as good as ours as to which other characters could follow, but Sam Wilson from the end of Avengers: Endgame and Spider- Man in Captain America: Civil War have to be two strong contenders.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities...and their patience.

Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the series also stars Daniel Brühl as Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.

Glad they brought Bucky back to short hair. But the long locks were glorious while they lasted.

Not much of a Falcon fan, would prefer a VERRRY DARK Winter Soldier tv show.

(I'm joking with the very dark, CAWS style is just fine).

Although Mackie as Captain could be interesting.

Honestly I'm not sure I get the whole idea behind this "Year of the Shield" thing, but I need that Pop! yesterday.
