Review Opinion

Last night I was fortunate enough to be apart of an advance screening (for Australia at least) for CA:TWS along with my girlfriend and younger brother. So, just how good was it? We have all heard the buzz, but does it really stand with the best?
The short answer is yes. This movie is a big achievement for a studio which seems to only get better with each film. Marvel has not only given us a great film, but one of the greatest CBMs ever.

The action is the amazing. Whether it's with The Winter Soldier or S.H.I.E.L.D agents, we see the super soldier get super. If you ever played the Captain America video game and thought, "damn, I wish he moved like this in the films", your prayers have been answered. We see Steve's capabilities to their full extent which, at times, can be pretty brutal.

Every actor is on point. There is not a single weak link in this film.

Chris Evans, as you'd expect, owns Steve/Cap in what is most likely his defining rendition.
Scarlett Johanssen, again, as you'd expect is great. Sharing great banter with Evans and just kicking all kinds of ass.
Samuel L Jackson is given an opportunity to delve in the Fury character a little more and doesn't leave you a second to think he isn't a one eyed monarch of the most covert security force in the world.

Mackie produces most of the laughs in this film. He is a great addition to the cast and I look forward to seeing more of his character.
But the best would have to be Sebastien Stan's silent, terminator-esque villain. He is absolutely brutal and at times terrifying. He also evokes a lot of emotion as anyone who has read the WS arc would know.

The themes explored in this film are incredibly relevant to today. Who can we trust? Does the government truly have our best interest at heart? Do the ends justify the means? Should we sacrifice freedom for security?

The writers deserve every bit of praise they get. They have given us a perfect balance of drama, action, humour and emotion.  Full of twists and turns which keep you on the edge of your seat without taking anything away from the emotional side of things. The ramifications and expansion this film delivers are surely going to felt in not just future Cap films, but the entire MCU, for some time.

Trying to write a review without spoilers is really tough because I just want to talk about how good this film is. This film is 10/10, ***** and two thumbs up. Go see it, I know I will be seeing it multiple times.
