Television actress Emily VanCamp (Revenge) will play the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Deadline reports that VanCamp and Marvel Studios are currently in negotiations to secure her in the role of what is believed to be Sharon Carter, who in the comic books is the niece of Peggy Carter, a character previously played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Hayley Atwell. It looks as if VanCamp beat out a LONG list of rumored candidates for the coveted role. Rumored to be up for the part at one time or another were Felicity Jones, Allison Brie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick, Emelia Clarke, Jessica Findlay Brown, Teresa Palmer and Imogen Poots were all said to be up for the role. True to form, Marvel Studios has selected a candidate previously not on the purported casting radar. More details as we have them. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently scheduled for release on April 4, 2014. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Deadline also reaffirms earlier reports that Scarlett Johannson will return as the Black Widow.

really unexpected choice.
Im soo used to watch her on tv, so will be weird to see her playing a Marvel character, specially the lead on Cap's sequel.
would have preffered a fresh choice, but lets hope she has a good role

Same here dude. I've always liked those outfits. But I bet you anything they didn't go for that look simply cause "it wouldn't translate well onto the big screen".

Nevertheless, Marvel has done a pretty good job adopting the outfits onto the silver screen. Well, except for the goofy looking helmet from Cap. Other than that, its been great.

Marvel likes to surprise us with their casting choices. I will stick with previous choice of Charlie Day voicing Rocket Raccoon. Maybe Marvel will "surprise" us next with that announcement.

Keeping it in the Disney/ABC corporate family I see. They probably signed her up for a lot of movies and CHEAP too. Glad to see Marvel's still keeping those purse strings tight, even after Avengers.

Blue dragon skin would look ridiculous, dude. Plus this is the Marvel Universe they don't have to use dragon skin. Just have him wear some kind of protective material made by Tony Stark of SHIELD or whoever.
@Jollem, they more or less look like what is in that picture o.O
@Ghostfire Yes he does lol.
