I'm glad he finally got a full-time book, but what the fcuk have they done to the Falcon?! This looks like it would be cool if they didn't try to make him try to pretend he was Captain America.

Apart from @Superior, does anyone here actually read comics? People just dismiss a lot of stuff that's come out lately as publicity stunts or gimmicks, but Falcon-Cap kicked a lot of ass in issue #1. Remender's got a good setup and it's worked so far. Jason Aaron's new Thor has been great as well, despite the dumb backlash.

People will keep saying, "Yawn, when's Steve coming back?" but those of us who're reading the book will be happy to keep reading Sam's story.

Unless All-New Cap goes downhill. Then we'll want Steve back ;)

Okay, it appears that there are people here that did read the first issue. A little bit of my faith is restored.

I think that the ones who don't read comics just repeat what they heard when it was announced (everyone lose their mind with "black Cap" and lady Thor) but when you read it you can see they're really trying. Remender as a writer is proof of that, and Thor was in one of it's best runs, why would they try to ruin that

Wow, Jamie Fox as Sam Wilson/Falcon/Cap...hmmmmm.

The first drawing of Falcon was definitely inspired by Jamie Foxx's face. It would have been interesting to see Jamie Foxx as James Rhodes though.

Ha Jaime Foxx. I didn't see it but it's true.

CONFIRMED: Marvel is looking to recast Falcon with Jamie Foxx, watch out Mackie.

Exactly my thoughts.

Couldn't do the Dimension Z thing. I think Rick Remender is really good at writing characters, but his stories always go into alternate dimensions and stuff. I'd prefer if he kept things a little more grounded in reality, because when he does things are great.

So this one might actually be worth checking out if it doesn't go alternate reality in the next few issues... (That art is fantastic though.)

Does it matter if these things are gimmicks? If the story is good and feels fresh, shouldn't that matter?

Does Falcon have superpowers or something? His kick sent Crossbones flying.

I was wondering that. He got smashed over the head with a car last week and it didn't seem to phase him.
The first issue of this one was confusing as hell. The art is nice, but the story barely makes sense. Won't be picking up any more of this.

@rabid

Its not hard to follow. What didn't make sense?
rabid
rabid - 11/16/2014, 9:07 PM
The action in the scenes. If there were no dialogue, you'd have a rough time figuring out what was happening. Then there's the whole issue being one infiltration on a secret base with no set up. Why stretch five minutes worth of kicking minions into an entire issue? And Redwing catching the shield? Silly.
And then there's that annoying itch that it doesn't line up with Axis and Mighty Avengers which came out the same week. In Cap, Sam is whining over saving lives, while in the others he's mister-collateral-damage.
I was really hoping for Sam to be drawn into some sort of Brubaker-style spy story, and instead it played out like a bad ninja manga. I just don't get why Remender is so popular.

The cast of AXIS has been inverted, so good guys are now bad guys and bad guys are now good guys, essentially. It's a bit odd that Marvel releases Superior Iron Man and All-New Cap during AXIS, when the characters are acting totally differently, but my perception is that this takes place after AXIS when everyone is 'back to normal' (well, Tony won't be, but y'know). That's how I see it.

I do agree that it was a little difficult to follow the action, but I had a blast reading the issue.
Bekss
Bekss - 11/16/2014, 9:59 PM
I'm not liking AXIS that much, Original Sin was good but Marvel needs to calm down with these "event", they were so good at doing them but now is just to much.
At least I think good things could come out of AXIS, I didn't read Superior IM but every review I've seen goes from good to great

I like the character of Sam Wilson, but the Falcon schtick bores me. I wish they'd turn him into a new Nighthawk. Or get him an eagle for a pet, now that he's Captain America. Then when he steps down, he could be the new American Eagle.
Maybe even bring back the golden age Falcon as the new Falcon, so he can't return to the identity. But for now, it just seems he's riding Steve Rogers coattails. The only interesting character he has in his entourage is Leila Taylor... and she might turn out to be a villain.

So tired of people constantly pissing on these changes. THEY'RE TEMPORARY. And to be frank, how can you seriously judge Falcon Cap or Female Thor off of 1 or 2 issues respectively? What if this ends up being the Superior Spider-Man for both titles? If it's solid storytelling married with engaging visuals, what's to whine about? Funny how some of the people who complain about these changes are the same ones that hysterically cried when Ben Affleck was announced to be Bruce Wayne/Batman then shut their yaps when they saw how Affleck looked in costume.

@Ramiel As far as I know his only superpower is the ability to telepathically communicate with birds (his "recon-network") the same way Aquaman telepathically communicates with fish.
