Howard Stark Will Appear In Captain America

More from Fav over at MTV. This time the Iron Man 2 director confirms that Tony Stark's dear old Dad Howard will play a part in the events of The First Avenger: Captain America..

Asked about Stark senior's possible appearance in Cap..

"Yeah, because he was around then. ['Captain America'] is World War II. It wouldn't be that same actor, probably, because he would be much younger.[Howard Stark] was starting out during that time, and [he] was involved with the war effort, much like Howard Hughes,"

In Iron Man 2, Howard Stark is played by John Slattery, who appears in a video reel flashback scene and plays an important part in unraveling a key plot mystery. How big Stark's part in Captain America will be is unknown, it could be a cameo or a full supporting role. Either way its a nice way to tie the movies together.

Two words: COSMIC CUBE.

The Red Skull is going for it, it connects to Thor and the Asgardians, and it connects to Iron Man via Howard Stark.

Can't wait...

Great find ROR! :)

This is a nice way of yet again linking these movies together and I guess it makes sense to explore the character a little more after Fury said in Iron Man 2 that (SPOILERS!!!) Howard was one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D! (END SPOILERS!!!)

I thought this was already announced... H. Stark was going to play a major role as the man who makes cap his shield and ironically becomes the founder of SHIELD.. most likely as a response to Caps death/disappearance

He worked on Project Rebirth. It says so in the Wal-Wart exclusive comic that came with specially marked "Iron Man" 2 disc DVDs.

"Howard Stark is freakin old! Not sure this entirely makes sense."

That's what I was thinking. The actor playing him is 47, but looks older because he's prematurely gray. They dyed his hair to make him look a little younger. That video Tony was watching takes place in about 1974.Captain America will take place over 30 years before that. The first movie mentioned he was involved with the Manhattan Project, so I wonder why they made him look so young in the 70s?

tea@ thats why i spew as much carbon into the air as possible to decrease the number of polar bears. they are a menace

satanors@ usually the movies come out here first. last week was supposed to be the global launch of IM2, including the U.S. however, the third chronicles of narnia movie was slated to come out in the u.s. this week (may 7). a few months back they changed the date and moved narnia to december. as result marvel chose to move iron man back til the 7th to take that slot. however that was only in america. therefore the world wide launch went according to schedule, with the u.s. launch being pushed a week back. make sense?

it would be awesome if banners dad,and toneys dad were both working on secret projects for the military. like toneys dad was building weapons for them and banners dad was building super soldiers.

@teabag, Watching Iron Man, I assumed Howard Stark was around as old as Obadiah Stane, played by Jeff Bridges who is 60. Assuming that he's like 20 at the very end of WW2 (and that's giving him a lot) that would mean he was born around 1925 meaning he would be about 85 in 2010 if he was alive. Stark is in his early 40s (since Downey is 45) So assuming he's 40, that would make Howard Stark around 45 at Tony's birth. This is all assuming they make Howard very young during Captain America.

@Anil Rickly

i remember someone on this site said for an idea maybe Isaiah Bradley could use the name Nick Fury as an alias to hide the truth of who he is.

This is great! Much better news then about Tommy Lee Jones. This will help tie all the movies together. I can't believe their gonna make all these movies! It's just the comics. I love it! I never thought when Blade came out that there would be movies where the characters crossed over from film to film. I know this is old news but, it's cool to see it really happening.
