So, Captain America: The Winter Soldier didn't quite manage to hit $100 million this weekend, but it did surpass $95 million (waaaay beyond many early predictions) for a record breaking April debut. According to Marvel.com, the Anthony and Joe Russo helmed sequel took $209.1 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $304.1 million after just 10 days of release. "On behalf of the entire cast and crew of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' I'd like to thank our incredible fans for not only making us the number one movie in the world this weekend, but helping us yet again break box office records," said producer Kevin Feige in a statement earlier today. Wow this is amazing for an April release. It's a spring-released movie getting summer box office numbers!

I wonder how much more this movie would've made if it were released in May or June. Marvel definitely has a hit on their hands, and now has the option to begin releasing Spring movies!

Cap 2 was great! I'm sure Fiege will see that you don't always need to have the packed humor/comedy of Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 to have a positive box office response form fans everywhere.

Looking even more forward to "Avengers: Age of Ultron" now than I was at first.

Not that much. It might have made less in the summer. The summer is crowed. The good thing about the April release is that they don't have any competition for the next couple of weeks. That gives the movie room to grow and rake in more money over time. No competition until the Amazing Spider-man 2 comes out.
