Russo Brothers Talk CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Themes And Promise 'Twists' On WINTER SOLDIER
In addition to a new featurette clip from the Winter Soldier Blu-Ray release, hit the jump and check out what directors Joe and Anthony Russo have said about their approach (so far) to Captain America 3.
Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, who has debuted an exclusive Captain America: The Winter Soldier clip from the Blu-ray, director siblings Joe and Anthony Russo commented vaguely on what they have in store for the highly-anticipated 2016 sequel. While Captain America 3 is still expected to center on Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) complex relationship with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), it will also retain the political and power themes from its predecessor. “The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose,” says Anthony Russo. “So it’s hard to get away from that nature.” The directing duo say they also don't want the Super Soldier to become a disillusioned antihero. According to Joe Russo, “his morality is part of his superpower. We're bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier.” What do you think?
Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, and Frank Grillo (so far), Captain America 3 is directed by the Russos, and currently scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L.
