Russo Brothers Talk CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Themes And Promise 'Twists' On WINTER SOLDIER

Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, who has debuted an exclusive Captain America: The Winter Soldier clip from the Blu-ray, director siblings Joe and Anthony Russo commented vaguely on what they have in store for the highly-anticipated 2016 sequel. While Captain America 3 is still expected to center on Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) complex relationship with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), it will also retain the political and power themes from its predecessor. “The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose,” says Anthony Russo. “So it’s hard to get away from that nature.” The directing duo say they also don't want the Super Soldier to become a disillusioned antihero. According to Joe Russo, “his morality is part of his superpower. We're bringing some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier.” What do you think?

Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, and Frank Grillo (so far), Captain America 3 is directed by the Russos, and currently scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014.

The MCU just goes from Strength to strength. I'm dying to hear who they get for Thor 3, it has to be somebody with a vision.

These guys really get the character. Now if only Sony would sell the rights to Spider-man back to Marvel, cause they definitely don't get that character.

So great how they sprung the Hydra thing and then tied that into Agents of SHIELD - it makes the show weave interestingly through the movies, shown here:

Good deal! It was astonishing how real this movie was. The little innuendos, like the "And you know everything" line Captain America says to the guy with "1 eye", the all knowing being. The chem trails in the background. Pre-crime, new world order, everything. I loved this movie. Best MCU movie to date!

That freeway action scene/fight with The Winter Soldier is still probably my favorite action sequence of any comic book movie so far. Although Guardians of the Galaxy had some pretty amazing action as well!

The only reason I'm picking BvS is because those are my 2 favorite superheroes ever. If it were any other comic book movie my ass would be in theater seeing Cap 3 first lol

I'm not gonna lie. After Guardians, It'll be hard to leave the cosmic side of the MCU and return to Earth's "grounded" reality. It's like returning from a vacation trip.
