Ryan Phillip has now confirmed a Captain America audition to MTV at South by Southwest Film Festival.

The rumor earlier today, from Hitflix, said that actor, Ryan Phillippe audtioned for Captain America, and now he himself confirms the rumor, in a video from MTV.





"actually am going in to meet on 'Captain America,' which is kind of cool," said Phillippe. "After Superman, he was kind of my favorite."

Yea I trust Marvel whoever they pick. Ryan would actually be good i think, but honestly, anyone who thinks Marvel will screw up one of its oldest and most recognized heroes is pretty off base.

He's not that bad, it's not like I'll cry my eyes out if he gets chosen or anything. I mean he has a deep voice, he has the physiqe and stuff...also from what I've heard he's a pretty good actor. Oh well, I'm really just wanting to know who it is now.

Huh. The only thing that concerns me at this point is, Marvel isn't sure who they want right now.

To me, it seems like Marvel is going the more known route each time we hear a new contender. First John Krasinski, Chris Evans, and now Ryan.

I can see them eyeing Ben Mckenzie next.

I know it won't happen but I'd love to see them use an old Cap (Maybe save young Cap for a prequel or something)

Some big time older action star like Stallone or Willis, or basically anyone else from the Expendables cast.

Well I sit corrected about this one. I think they could do worse than casting Phillippe as Cap but it is definitely interesting that they're starting to test more well-known actors. Maybe their idea of casting an unknown has hit a snag? Wouldn't surprise me if the auditions for the unknowns just weren't that great and so they decided to try some more recognizable faces. Either way, he's better than everyone on the original shortlist, imo.

jason lewis is perfect for cap ... the size build and looks ..he.s 6ft ..odd..sounds just like you would expect cap a strong american ,,blonde eyes big jaw well built .

I'm not really a fan of this guy as Cap but they could do worse...but probably not. ;) Chris Evans, Ryan McPartlin and Jensen Ackles remain my top choices!

ive always liked him so i think it could work. the only issue i see is that he needs to have a stronger personality than tony stark tho that isnt hard to do. But Ive always felt ryan was kinda on the same level. Captain america to me feels more like someone who can take charge and is a natural born leader. Im not sure who resonates that the most tho.

LordHuck-- I actually like Cam as Cap also. His bit part in Pandorum was one of the best parts of the entire film. The guys is ripped to hell and back. AND he looks like a 40s 50s-ish all-American male. He'd have to bulk down to play pre-Cap. They could put him in a large t-shirt or a medium fat suit or something.

T2-- I'm with you there mon ami. Cast it ffs!

P.S. I'm beginning to think HOLLYWOOD gets put off by anyone thats thought of an actor now for a comic book part...

Look at SINESTRO, CAROL FARRIS, HAL JORDON, RED SKULL, etc etc, its all parts no ones thought of....

its a scary thought LOL!

Dude screw Philippe. He's acting is just fine, BUT

-He's 5'9".... 5 inches shorter than Cap'
-He's 35...... 12 years older than Cap' at the time he becomes Captain America.

F**k this choice.

Greetings Folks,

Yes, this casting is getting ridiculous, but just have fun with it. Whoever they pick is who we are stuck with.

I think John Krazinski would have been a great Cap. But since that is not going to happen, I offer a few more choices to meditate on....

Matthew McConahey would have owned it, but probably older than what they are looking for (41yrs old). But he probably out of all the names I've see is the only one I can see being able to hold his own on screen with RDJ and Sam Jackson.

Barry Pepper - the guy has done like a dozen WWII films, but at 40yrs is too old and would have to put on about 25lbs of muscle to pull it off, he's definitely got the charisma and acting chops.

Ryan Gosling - Solid acting chops and great age (30yrs old) Should be in the top five at least.

Ricky Schroder (Silver Spoons) Could have been a contender. Looks like he just walk out of the comicbook, but too old (40yrs old) and not the greatest acting chops.

Just my thoughts...
