GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3's Disney+ Release Date Has Finally Been Revealed

Marvel Studios has shared the news we've all been waiting for as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 finally has a Disney+ premiere date! Find details on that, and check out a TV spot and poster right here...

Disney+ has announced today that Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin streaming on the platform starting August 2.

The threequel has been available to buy on Digital since July 7 and hits DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD on August 1. We would say it's surprising to see the movie premiere on Disney+ so quickly, but that's become the norm following COVID and physical home entertainment media is a borderline niche option these days!

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

"As heart-wrenching as it is hilarious," we said in our review earlier this year, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is James Gunn’s masterstroke and a showcase for both his filmmaking talent and a cast that makes everything about this movie simply awesome. An absolute triumph."

The movie stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

James Gunn is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's director and also wrote the screenplay. Kevin Feige produces with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Sara Smith, and Simon Hatt serving as executive producers.

As noted, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes exclusively to Disney+ on August 2, joining the other two films of the trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Still haven't seen it, but might catch it on DVD when it comes out (yes, I'm old.)
This was one of the few post Endgame MCU movies I was kinda interested it originally, but the more I heard about it, the less interested I became.

I'd like to see Rocket's MCU origins, but not thrilled with (what sounds like "excessive") cgi animal abuse. A bigger problem for me is how it seems that Quill got the short end of the stick and never wears the mask or the jet boots even briefly in this movie, which is unforgivable imo.

I'll still probably check it out next month, but not very hyped. There's nothing upcoming from the MCU that looks like a fun time either as far as I'm concerned, but we'll see.

I motion to immediately cease all delusions of Josh Wilding as primary critic for this site's reviews and moving forward, when using vernacular such as "our review" in articles we refer solely to the reviews of this site's actual film critic, Mark Cassidy. Also when no Cassidy review is present I motion we simply link to a picture of a blank canvas or a image of bird shit upon a wind shield, for such imagery provides more substance than a Josh Wilding review.

Shang Chi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, Werewolf By Night, and Guardians 3 were pretty good.

@Order66 - Way too much diversity for the loudest of users on this site
and I agree with you. I would add Ms. Marvel and I enjoyed She-Hulk too, although like many, I was not thrilled with the final episode.

@RolandD - I enjoy all of them. I’m not one of those that completely shits on some of them. The ones I mentioned are just the ones that I think beginning to end were great and stand out to me.

GOTG 3 was the OKAYEST MCU movie in a long time.

'Adam Warlock' was lame AF - use a different name and it would have been fine.

Good night, MCU. Your time as a profitable entity has come to an end...

@Batmangina - I actually loved the movie. Agree that Marvel has generally lost its way and I have zero interest in most of the upcoming slate, but GOTG3 has heart like no other. To me it's the bookend of an incredible era that started with Iron Man. It's the perfect coda to Infinity War/Endgame and I'm fine with not watching any more Marvel after it, but I will re-watch it many times.

@hainesy - You're not wrong - if the rest of the MCU wasn't such a disaster and Gunn wasn't already at DC, I would have probably LOVED it.

As it is now, it only accentuates the overall failure of Disney.
