Marvel Studios recently disclosed a crucial detail about Park Seo-joon's enigmatic character in the highly-anticipated movie The Marvels.

Back in June 2021, there was a buzz in the media when it was announced that South Korean actor Park Seo-joon would be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through The Marvels.

Although specific information about his role had been kept under wraps, the official sequel trailer offered the first glimpse of Park Seo-joon's character, with Marvel confirming that he is a significant member of the main cast in Captain Marvel 2.

So, who is Park Seo-joon's character in The Marvels? According to Entertainment Weekly, producer Mary Livanos revealed that Park Seo-joon portrays an ally to Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) in the sequel.

As the movie's marketing gained momentum in recent weeks, official Captain Marvel 2 merchandise from McDonald's Toys unveiled more details about Park Seo-joon's MCU character. It was disclosed that his character's name is Prince Yan, the same name as Carol Danvers' husband from the comics.

Furthermore, the Captain Marvel 2 trailer hinted that Park Seo-joon's character will be involved in a musical number.

Theories about how Prince Yan fits into Captain Marvel 2 have started to emerge. In the Marvel Comics, Yan is the prince of Aldana, a planet where marriages are preordained, and everyone speaks in rhymes.

In one storyline (Captain Marvel Vol. 8 #9), Carol acted as Yan's bride after replacing a mutant named Lila Cheney. After a confrontation with an evil alien that interrupted the ceremony, Yan's companion Tica agreed to marry him, granting Carol the chance to escape. Following Tica and Yan's marriage, the prince changed the planet's rule prohibiting men from choosing their spouses.

While it remains uncertain if this exact story arc will be adapted in the movie, there's a possibility that some elements will be incorporated.

Given that Park Seo-joon's character is confirmed to be an ally, it's plausible that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers was indeed married to Prince Yan at some point, and Aldana might have served as her refuge alongside Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau.

On the other hand, the sequel might explore Carol and Yan's arranged marriage as a guise to ultimately abolish Aldana's restrictive rule about men and their choice of wives.

Fans eagerly await the release of The Marvels, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 10th.

In The MarvelsCarol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.
