Marvel Studios has released a new promo for Nia DaCosta's upcoming Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels (that's a lot of Marvels), and it packs quite a bit of new footage into its 30 seconds.
The spot aims to show that the three heroes are "just like us" when they're not saving the world, with Carol Danvers listening to music, Kamala Khan sketching her idol, and Monica Rambeau about to celebrate cocktail-o'clock.
Then, we see the budding teammates in action as they use their "switch" powers to take out some of Dar-Benn's Kree goons, and right at the end, Nick Fury tells Captain Marvel that it might be a good idea to "show some restraint." Danvers replies that it's "not really my thing."
A recent report indicated that Brie Larson may have become "disillusioned" with her role after suffering from so much online abuse, and there was even a suggestion that she may not want to play the space-faring hero any more.
This obviously remains to be seen, but we may get a better idea of Larson's mindset during the movie's press tour (if it even happens with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike).
For now, have a look at the new teaser in the player below.
"In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
The film also stars Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.
The Marvels will begin its international rollout on November 8, and was recently granted a China release on November 10, day-and-date with North America.
