THE MARVELS Promo Banner Reveals New Look At Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan, And Photon

Earlier this year, The Marvels' release date was shifted from July to November. Between then and now, we at least have Secret Invasion and Loki to look forward to, but those of you who can't wait for more Captain Marvel action will want to keep an eye on store shelves.

New merchandise for the sequel - which will also put Ms. Marvel and Photon front and centre - was recently spotted, and with that comes a banner featuring never-before-seen promotional shots of the three leads.

They look great together and should make for a formidable trio when they assemble to tackle a new Kree threat (the villainous Dar-Benn, played by Zawe Ashton).

Over the weekend, possible spoilers for The Marvels started doing the rounds on social media after a fresh round of test screenings. It sounds like some significant changes have been made to the sequel following reshoots, so be careful where you look if you're trying to avoid those sorts of leaks.

For now, you can check out this new promo art below.

In The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.

When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as "The Marvels."

The movie stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon.

The Marvels arrives in theaters on November 10.

After Gotg Vol 3 gave us some fresh and great superhero content, this film looks even more generic and unspecial. Literally MCU space comedy #234

This might be the MCU movie I have been the least interested in so far, but I'll wait for the reviews to come in before deciding to go to cinema for it or not. The characters are simply not that interesting or charismatic.

“Carol you queen” is exactly the sort of marketing that will turn off the core CBM demographic.

I’m surprised it didn’t say “slay” or call her “boss bitch”.

If they want to produce something that appeals to the demographic that makes up most of the CBM watching audience, best of luck to them in successfully pulling in others. Let’s see if that strategy pays off for them.

@Polaris - I guess that’s a good point. Misread the Twitter handle.

But the musical elements, abundance of cats (even though they are Flerkins), and Freaky Friday-esque story elements aren’t doing them any favors either.

@mountainman - People were saying the same stuff about the first Captain Marvel film and we all saw how that turned out.

I don't expect this to come close btw, it's having the BP-WF drop, but still.
mountainman
mountainman - 6/21/2023, 12:05 PM
@WakandanQueen - Yeah it’ll hVe a big drop due to multiple factors. It would be dumb to blame it all on Larson.

I’m thinking about half the take of the first one. The character isn’t a big draw if you take away the first one got between Infinity War and Endgame. The other two leads are from Disney plus so they aren’t a big draw like all the added characters in Dr Strange 2 were. An unknown F list villain. The trailer didn’t hook people. Overall CBM fatigue.

Lots of factors. But it’ll certainly perform much lower than the first.

If Boseman wouldn’t have died, BP2 wouldn’t have seen the huge drop most likely.

Photon is the only character out of those three I like mainly because I liked the WandaVision show, so the more I see of I may like her more or less.

Anyway this movie looks shit.

4 years later and people are still volunteering themselves to trip over their own feet in the name of pretending to complain about a Captain Marvel movie they claim they don't even care about.

How the hell has she had this chokehold on y'all for this long?
Vigor
Vigor - 6/20/2023, 9:09 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - they really need to shove captain marvel in more stuff. She needs to be every where, kicking ass, learning lessons, growing. These huge gaps between her appearances aren't helping her haters nor her fans

OmegaDaGrodd

@Vigor - MCU Captain Marvel is such a bizarrely defined character. Clearly, they had somewhat of an idea for an origin story in mind, but based on when it was released, it didn't really give an opportunity for subsequent Avengers film appearances to flesh out her personal thoughts and feelings. This means that we get an origin film that establishes *personality* but doesn't really touch on convictions or motivations, so she's basically the MCU's first true action figure character. That would normally be a problem, but the Russos and the writers slotted her into Endgame so seamlessly and in a way that requires us to know zero additional details about her to make her actions make sense, that I actually feel like I don't really have gaps. I feel like her character is super clear, which seems odd for a character who's real core hasn't been explored at all. Obviously The Marvels will determine how well my comment ages, because this will be the first time where we see her post-memory-recovery having to regularly interact with characters who we've had considerable amounts of time learning about inside and out.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 6/20/2023, 9:30 AM
Marvel are frequently guilty of taking some dramatic shortcuts that can work to the detriment of their characters, and I feel like Captain Marvel is the first time where I can clearly see the shortcuts they took (the time jump for her is baked into her place in the overarching story) and it strangely doesn't even matter. The first movie wanted to have it's fish out of water cake and then eat it's girl power fantasy finale too, and in between there should have been a moment where Carol just gets to be Carol so we can learn who that really is......and they never did it......and it also didn't really cause any problem
Vigor
Vigor - 6/20/2023, 9:32 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - yeah I see what you mean. I guess it's less about her personal growth as a character and more about the connections she's made with other characters, that we need to see

Like I wonder if Rhodes and her kept in touch
Polaris

There are some MAJOR post credit leaks about The Marvel's right now. Anybody seen them and want to discuss?

I found the post credits to be a big "ahhh finally" moment. Finally moving the needle in the over arching plot, but also in finally connecting everything in phase 4
Scarilian
Scarilian - 6/20/2023, 10:01 AM
@Vigor -
Not sure why anyone would want Phase 4 to be connected at this point. Phase 4 sucked really bad. Phase 5 so far has only had two movies and the best of those was unconnected from everything else.

At this stage with Phase 5/6 getting delayed, why even bother to set-up a storyline they may not deliver on.
Vigor
Vigor - 6/20/2023, 10:56 AM
@Scarilian - the storyline was always there. It just wasn't obvious from the start of phase 4 as they introduced basically an entire new team (young avengers) over the span of a dozen movies and shows.

It's the multiverse saga, and all of these characters are part of it.
Finally in the Marvels end credits, they show how things are about to get serious with the multiverse and why they gathered all these characters
