COMICS: A New Origin For 'Scarlet Witch' Teased In Latest UNCANNY AVENGERS Teaser

We got a teaser for Quicksilver yesterday, and today it's the turn of the Scarlet Witch as the new Uncanny Avengers series gets set to launch early next year. The relationship between The Twins and their father, Magneto? Severed in time for Avengers: Age of Ultron...

If you've been reading Avengers & X-Men: AXIS, you'll know that Magneto is NOT the father of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. That's where the quote below hails from, while it's previously been indicated that "The Twins" (as they'll be known in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron) will be revealed as Inhumans instead of mutants as well. Either way, the identity of their real father should be interesting to see. Check out the teaser and share your thoughts in the usual place!

This is some blatant ass retcon BS. It's fine though, I haven't read a marvel book except Hawkeye in ages anyways.

The movies make 100x more money, so I guess Disney wants the MCU to be canon now

It might be a ploy to make you think it's Mags but that line refers to Quicksilver.

Now their wierd incest relationship is just a regular old wierd relationship!

This is something i have always wondered about. Marvel's contract to Fox seems to lie in the fact that they can only use character classified as mutants. Hence being able to use Deadpool who's never really been an X-men character.

So could Marvel make the contract null and void by simply retconing all the mutants to being something else. Like Inhumans?

I don't think anything in the comics will prevent FOX from using any character they've already brought into the movies. They'll still retain the movie rights. But any new reveal in the comics, DOES allow Marvel to explore the characters as THEY intend.

FOX already has broken from continuity with separating brothers,Alex and Scott Summers by decades. They gave Kitty telepathic powers. Changed Pietro Maximoff's nationality by making him american They've reworked Fantastic Four in their image. They play with their versions of the characters. So if they decide to make more of Magento as the twins fathers -more power to them. It just creates another division between their version and Marvel's.

The Inhumans story is why Hawkeye will be on Agents of Shield. Coulson will discover about the other "Miracles" that are being held by Strucker and Hawkeye will go to investigate in Age of Ultron. This is very stupid move though, I love comics big time so it's hard for me to say that.

Magneto being the twins' father was itself a retcon, so this is just another in a long line of changes for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's origin.

Next thing you know they'll do just like a Fox is doing and instead of the Fantastic four getting hit by cosmic rays. It will be some form of a Terrigan bomb that activated their powers..... The Inhuman 4
Mecha
Mecha - 12/24/2014, 11:35 AM
@JoJo1982 Deadpool isn't even a mutant, so they don't need to make him into an inhuman, lol.

@Torpedo

Correct. The original parents were The Whizzer and Miss America. Most fans don't even know those characters. I think because Magento, a popular character in his own right, is all a younger generation knows is what is causing all the upset. But I suppose there is also a divide between those who support FOX, who holds the movie rights for mutant characters -now can't say their version is authentic.

But then again, is anything authentic with FOX's versions of the characters? I've always treated all their characters as variations of Marvel's. Not true depicitions as they are in the comics. So why all the fuss now?

Lol I Never said he was a mutant, but turning him in a inhuman would help get the rights back maybe

Well, at least THIS isn't AS creepy anymore...

Seriously, I find it slightly adorable how upset some people are and saying "Marvel doesn't respect their history!" when Magneto being their father was a retcon... one which made certain encounters between them VERY uncomfortable in a "Luke and Leia make out in Empire Strikes Back" kind of way.
