With the overhaul of the Spawn series fast approaching with Spawn: Ressurection #1 the creator of Spawn himself, Todd McFarlane, has announced the new series writer will be an Eisner award winner. McFarlane also went on to say that the writer has plans that go into next year.

Luckily Spawn fans won't have to wait much longer as the identity of the new writer is set to be revealed during the Image Comics Expo. The unnamed writer will be teaming up on the series with artist Jonboy Meyers, and will be replacing Brian Wood.

Along with this tease, McFarlane revealed a sweet variant cover by Jock which you can see below.

Spawn looks like he's still stuck in the late '90s metal & chains fetish.

Hope TM updates that.

Brian Wood left due to McHack not letting him have creative control... no hope for this series.
