“He saves the world. He does his job as Robin,” writer Grant Morrison said to the NY Post. “He dies an absolute hero.”

So unlike Batman R.I.P. which didn't actually see Batman die, just get 'misplaced', it sounds as if Morrision is sending his comic book creation to limbo before he finishes up his Batman Inc. run. The post goes on to say that Damian dies while fighting a clone of himself and Batman arrives too late to save him à la Jason Todd. Just when DC was making Damian really likeable it seems that his time as Robin has come to an end.

“You can never say never in a comic book . . . Batman will ultimately always have a partner," Morrison said. And with that in mind who will it be? Nightwing is moving to Chicago so he's not a candidate. Perhaps on of the other Robin 'interns' or maybe another classic comic book character makes their New 52 debut.

I'm guessing this is a result of Snyder introducing Harper Row over in Batman. Such a shame! Damian is a great character...

Im not a fan of Morrison nor was I really a fan of Damien but DC getting rid of him just as he was becoming likeable? Why? What's worse is he will most likely come back to life some time soon, once again cheapening comic book death...

Shame kinda like Damian now but this is my least favourite Batman comic out, never liked the idea of Batmen around the world.

Damian and Jason are very unlikable characters. Sometimes being the "bad boy" is a good thing, but as Batman's partner, not so much. In the immortal words of President Busch senior.."It just wouldn't be prudent"! I grew up with Dick Grayson, in the comics & on tv. Robin represented good values, ala "doing the right thing". When Jaso came along, the dark hero was popular so I understood the make over. Tim was awesome. Smart & athletic. Back to the basics. Damian was just an arrogant prick that I couldn't stand!
Question now is who is next? A female Robin? Might be a litle creepy & perverted but some say that about the young male versions that we have seen thus far. I'm curious. Surprise me! Shock me! But most of all...ENTERTAIN ME!

[frick] man, Damian is the shit! This sucks! The best run on Batman in the last 5 years was Dick and Damian as Batman and Robin. If this shit is true, wtf are they gonna do with the Batman & Robin book then?

Honestly, how stupid. You take a great death ala Jason Todd (which was one of the only comic-deaths to actually stand over the years) and screw it up, then you take a character that people have grown to enjoy reading and kill him off?

I swear, I'm getting closer and closer to being a Marvel fanboy again every week. Even Superior Spider-man has me hooked. Inferior Batman Writer's suck.

Well, guess Batman and Robin is off my pull list now. I started off not liking the character, now I absolutely love Damien.

WAIT What about Generation lost #14 ?
I know this is the new 52 but in it there was a statement of him being resurrected several times from the lazurus pit. I hope there is a return for him ala reverse role (respectful and honorable). I really liked his role in the new batman series and I hope Grant morrison bring shim back in a big way.

I doubt Damian will die, Morrison must be playing with us, he won't mention the ending of his comic before the issue come out

Always hated Damian so I have no problem with this. Suprised people are warming up to the character now that they are killing him...

But this is the New 52 universe. Doesn't mean he's dead in the original universe.

"A wasted opportunity in "Death of the Family" to kill off this spawn of shitty writing. Having the Joker destroy it would have been amazing. "

THIS. Dear [frick]ing god this. I don't read shitty Batman Incorporated and I don't read anything by Grant Morrison anymore. [frick] that guy. Why does he get to be bigger then the company? Why is he the only one that doesn't have to play by the rules? DOTF ends with only a metaphorical death, and then this piece of shit kills Batman's SON two weeks later? This on top of him pretty much being the only one that got to ignore the New 52 initiative. "I just want to continue doing my own thing and no one has the balls to tell me otherwise." Bald [frick]er.

DC (and the whole comics medium) needs to stop sucking Grant Morrison's dick. It'll be better for everyone when he leaves.

Well, they should leave Batman without a partner for about a year. It might be time for a female Robin, I like Cassandra Cain as Robin.

Awesome but I dont think it will last. DCs nowhere near as bad as Mehval with killing of characters and bringing them back (DC waits YEARS after all...) but I have the feeling he will be back just like Todd.

I don't understand why people like asshole characters like Damien, Namor and Fantomex but I guess thats the thing nowadays. Whatever.

I have to agree with the guys above too it would have been much more meaningful and dramatic if Damien died during DOAF, but I have the feeling that Morrison was being protective of his character and wanted to send him off himself. This is the guy who refused to tell Perez what he was doing with Superman in the past after all.

Either way excellent news.

What if Damian kills the clone, and places his clothes on the clone, implying that he is dead, and leaves to go do his own thing for a while...? Idk, I'm just speculating here
CarlosAM
CarlosAM - 2/25/2013, 7:28 AM
That's retarded. If they're going to kill off Damien they should of done it in the Death of The Family arc instead of giving us that stupid [frick]ing ending where (of course) the Joker gets away.

Anyone who believes that Ra's Al Ghul is going to let his grandson stay dead and that Talia isn't going to do something to bring her son back...is crazy as hell. I can already see a new DC event. Ras and Talia put Damian in a Lazarus pit and we all know what that is going to do to his already screwed up little mind.

Dammit. Dammit dammit. This is depressing, I love Damian. Probably the most exciting new DC character since probably Kyle Rayner.

Only way Morrison can get people to read his crap is to do shock value. I forgot this book was still monthly. RIP little Robin.

Thing is Bruce can't even snap over the death of his son and get revenge, as his killer was a clone, making him Bruce's son too. Damn.

But yeah, I see Damien returning a few years from now ala Jason Todd as a new Batman villain in the same vein.
