"If you’re not moving, you’re not living."

"If we stop looking to the present and the past, and instead we look to the future…if we ask ourselves what can be–what it will be tomorrow… then we’re asking the right question. Because to hope, to dream, to predict is to shape the city yourself, rather than to be shaped by it."

"Maybe this is all connected to that guy in Metropolis."

"You think you and your ‘army’ stand a chance against Superman and a half dozen Green Lanterns and Wonder Woman?"

"They ended the revolution and freed our country. Then they disappeared."

"Do we look like ‘super-heroes’? We’re the professionals."

"He’s the worst kind of killer. One with no true pattern."

"Hee…That’s so cute. You think you’re scary. But mister, I’ve seen scary. And you ain’t got his smile."

"What I do, I do for the good of the universe. Something you lost sight of thousands of years ago."

"I’m losing control."

"We don’t… We don’t call it that. It could be the key to all human knowledge. Black holes. Time travel. Physics, on another level."

"What I want is your complete attention and for you to understand that your life is now mine."

"You are not the first doctor I’ve known that tried to play god."

"Flashpoint effect has definitely closed off time travel."

"I’ve always enjoyed your sense of humor, Booster."

"He makes a sound like a supersonic bomber. And then it looks like his shadow itself turns against him."

"How’s it feel to be nobody’s favorite super-hero?"

"I remember a time when you would have begged me to stop playing superhero!"

"Maybe I was never a good guy, and maybe I was never the really big fish. But if there’s one thing I do know from living other’s people’s lives, it’s that I’ve changed."

"How long have I been here? How long have I been frozen like this?"

"I always thought you could change the world, Michael."

"Some people don’t like having their secrets exposed."

"The only reason I’m here is ’cause if anything happens to you–that would make me the worst former sidekick ever."

"You think I need a ‘team?’"

"You could do so much good! WE could do so much good!"

"Good to see you, Barbara."

"Nature sounds its own warning bell."

"Welcome to Cellblock D of the Central Asian Supermax Meta-Human Facility."

"I thought I’d left that world behind me. That maybe I could do more good working from the shadows. Apparently, I was wrong. I’m going to need help."

"You’re Welcome, my friend. And New York City, you’re welcome too!"

"If that scarab pops back up, I want any Green Lanterns within five parsecs to know it."

"You’ve been partners with this guy for a couple of years, and you still haven’t told him where you really came from?"

"A bunch of Lanterns have just died in sector 3599."

"We are too late."

"Because the entire time THEY have been studying ME? I have been studying THEM."
"This time it spells trouble."

"I swear to God I don’t know nothin’ about the Gotham Butcher."

"You’re just in time for your destiny."

"Miles? Why, my beautiful girls…. You can see forever."

"People are goin’ nuts. Wait ‘til they watch us kill him."

"Oh, God. Oh, God. I just murdered someone!"

"You are the parent of your own fear."

"Kyle Rayner of Earth, you have been chosen."

"You’re not my partner, you’re my son."

"Find out who is under that mask."

"For this great mission I will need help. I will need followers who are prepared to follow me into the jaws of death, and worse…"

"You’ll have my undivided attention… And I’m pretty sure I’ll have yours."

"Just when I’ve set up my new life, my old one comes back. Well played, Gotham."

"I didn’t even know how much I missed it."

"The dream isn’t over."

"The future is being re-made."

"Life isn’t without risk. You hear that bon mot a lot. But mostly around business. Or dating. Or eating fried food from street vendors. But we take risks all the time, every day, in a thousand ways. Driving a car. Talking to a stranger. Jay walking. Those are the little ones we don’t even think about. It’s the big ones that make it interesting. At least for me, it is."

Dear DC,

Please remove the ridiculous looking high collar from Superman's "new" costume. Besides the fact that it makes him look like an uncircumcised P3NIS with the cape combo, it also looks ridiculous that the JL has matching high collar necklines (wonder woman has a corresponding choker collar...clearly batman and flash do not apply as they have full masks). I have gotten over the red trunks being removed and can live with the belt but also please reconsider the whole Armor look to Superman's costume as well...its like putting a space heater on the sun...what is the f'n point?!

Sincerely,
Trapdinsteel

I has always been my opinion that the Ultimates in the Marvel Universe was an attempt to re-create in a format that would make it easy to take cannon material and use it in other media, like movies for example. I really think this is also an effort to align movies and comics together...and for WB/DC that is a bit easier then Marvels convoluted situation with other studios currently.

Ill read my regulars and maybe pick up a few more, but its really story for me also..i just hate that you invest years (and a certain amount of pride) in learning and understanding character history and outlook, only to wait for the next 'crisis' that will change all that....

I just hope it rocks, the future of DC comics appears to me to be in the balance..in other words, BUY THEM.

@ trapdinsteel: I think the armor will help him keep his suit in one piece during battles etc. He's invulnerable, his costume isn't (yeah I know that the original costume was made from the Kryptonian material in the spaceship yada yada but that's old school man). Even if that material was super strong it's going to wear out eventually, like your favorite pair of Superman indies (Spider-man undies in my case). :P

@SpiderFan35 - I can see and concede to your point about strengthening his suit for battle with the armor look, however I still despise the high collar...with a passion :)

I don't understand why people hate this. They reboot movies, it seems like every five years, why not the comics? I think it is smart, there are some of us who don't want to go back and read the old school lame beginnings. I wanna see it modernized and cool. I am stoked!

I wasn't looking forward to this. But the more I see certain artwork, the more I am compelled to try out at least a few of them. And since they are starting at number 1, it is a great excuse to start buying them.I know I am getting Hawk and Dove and Justice League International (those guys crack me up).

@adapunisher- thats why Marvel is doing their Season One graphic novels so you can see a modernized telling of the origins instead of oldschool version. But Season One still manages to be in-continuity with the main universe. No reboot necessary.

If you don't understand why people hate it, then you are likely either under 30 or just haven't been interested in comic books for very long. The fact is that all of the heroes that every longtime comic book reader has grown up with and known all their lives is being DRASTICALLY rebooted. Not just a "crisis" reboot, but drastic changes to character design and canon. That makes these characters no longer the character we are familiar with and have followed all these years (actually decades), thus not only our disinterest but in fact our feeling of being crapped on by the publisher.

They could have done this wholesale changing of their iconic characters in an alternate universe as Marvel was smart enough to do, thus bringing in new readers while not turning away the longtime readers. They didn't. Because of that I am sure they will see a drastic fall off of sales just weeks into this whole fiasco.

but then of course you would likely have to be a lifetime comic book fan over the age of 35 to appreciate this viewpoint.

and by the way.......we are the demographic with the most entertainment dollars to spend on comics. I drop between 40 and 50 bucks per week at my local comic shop. That will now get cut in half as I no longer buy any DC titles. My loss is their loss.
