COMICS: First Look At Grant Morrison And Yanick Paquette's WONDER WOMAN: EARTH ONE

At a press event in Burbank last night, Grant Morrison officially announced that he and Yanick Paquette will indeed team-up for original graphic novel, Wonder Woman: Earth One. Hit the jump for a first look at artwork from the book.

Following the announcement mentioned above, DC Comics today unveiled the following piece of artwork from the graphic novel. They promise that Wonder Woman: Earth One will deliver, "a unique and distinctly Morrison take on Diana’s origin story." If his recent run on Action Comics is anything to go by then, expect it to be confusing, messy and downright bizarre. Still, at least it will LOOK nice thanks to Swamp-Thing artist Yanick Paquette! What do you guys think?

Awesome, hopefully this will lay down some groundwork for a how a Wonder Woman film should be made.

Hippolyta V Hercules? Very Perez.
Years ago, I got Paquette to sketch me a version of Zarda (who is basically the Marvel version of Wonder Woman). I wonder if this was his first time sketching the character. That'd be neat.
CavEl@ He's retiring from Superheroes. This will be his Penultimate Superhero work. Multiversity will be his last.

Charlie2094@ Nightwing Earth One? Hope not. Where did you hear that? Don't get me wrong, I think introducing Dick as Nightwing, instead of Robin is a brilliant idea, but shouldn't they do it within the Batman Earth One series? I like how there's only the Trinity in Earth One, because it was the Trinity that reset the Earth One universe, in the Trinity storyline. And it seems to be the only universe to have remained unchanged after Flashpoint.

Grant Morrison's style might fit into her mythology very nicely

Charlie@ Cool. Fvck it, I'm all for it. As long as he's not Robin first. It'd be good if they just skipped that era just once.

Morrison is really hit and miss so this will be interesting to see what it turns out like, if it is like his Action Comics run then it will be horrible.

...aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

WHY CAN'T THIS CRAZY BRITISH F%$# JUST LEAVE DC'S PANTHEON ALONE?!?

... Sorry. I'm just really sick of Grant Morrison's brand of self-indulgent bullsh*t storytelling. The guy had some experimental success in the eighties and nineties, but ever since then he's just been pushing it in terms of style and content into more and more ridiculous extremes-- honestly, I think he's just doing it at this point to see how far he can go before someone finally calls him out on it.

So when I read something like "a unique and distinctly Morrison take on Diana’s origin story", it makes me want to punch a kitten.

Brian Azzarello has f%$$ed up Wonder Woman enough, Morrison... you'd better not make things worse by being YOU.

I love the Earth One series. It seems to be the closest we will get to the old DC universe versions of our heroes. I hope they keep it in a graphic novel format, so every book will be epic. It would be great if they did a JSA one also.
