When its added to the covers of the books it looks Good. It has grown on me!!

It's not horrible, not saying I could do better. But it's a little off.

No matter the goddamn context, it's still a shitty ass logo. Worst logo in comic book history. Would some perspective angles or any type of dynamism be too much to [frick]ing ask?

It actually looks really good with the different colors aligned with the different comics. In addition, adding images to the background C on it as shown with the Joker and Superman images looks great! I'm actually a turned fan of the image. The original concept looked like shit but this looks impressive. It really seems they put a lot of time and effort into the design.

Not overly convinced but it looks better than I thought it would. The diferent colors definitely help.

Its growing on me. Still think the old one was better, though.

now they make a tad more sense. Thats the problem when you show something that is considered a prototype and without proper context it looks terrible. These don't look that bad, I give them points for creativity.

What a stupid thing for DC to waste time and money on.

I never doubt that it will look fine on books, it's good enough for that - especially with colors. But what I'm worrying is how it will appear in other medias; I mean, it will be rather hard to see this new logo simply peeled out instead of the previous logo gloriously appearing before movies.

@ironknight I think the old one works better for a film logo currently while this design looks great for the actual comics. I am curious to see how they implement this new design into a film logo though. Would be cool to see the C show an animated image dealing with the character movie being seen. I could imagine the Man of Steel movie showing this logo with a quick "history of Superman" montage being shown on it. Would/Could be pretty epic.

It's not that I dislike the new logo; I just still like the predecessor better.

It looks like a regression of logos to me.

I do prefer the old DC logo better.

this is still completely wrong for comics. finance, yes, but not comics. it has no spirit, no life, no personality.

IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's grown on me, but I think it looks more like it should just be an e-comic logo. Strictly web based material.

Logo's are supposed to look good in both black and white as well as color

These look awful in black and white, and equally as bad in color

The old logo was fine, why bother changing it?

They need to bring back the bullet logo as a throwback to the golden age. Right now the logo is trying to look hip and modern, but just looks a bad real estate company logo. It's kinda why people love Coke over Pepsi because Coke always retains that nostalgia of the 50's when it was popular where as Pepsi is always changing its logos to try and stay modern

@GrayFox1205: I like the way you say "are supposed to", as if you'd studied Logodesign. Which I am quite sure, you havent. So stop making random statements which arent more than just your opinion - which I, of course, respect, even if I differ. Thank you. :)

And I liked the old logo as well, but I think its okay, that they changed it. It even looks great, I liked the style from the beginning and now get to love it even more.

IT'S A FLIPPIN' LOGO, PEOPLE! Get over it. (No, seriously it is a flipping logo. The D flips over to reveal the C.)

Even trying to add humor I am not totally fond of this move now. Why? Why? Why didn't the logo change when the New 52 came out?

Very interesting. Definitely has some style to it and creativity. I like it better than Marvels logo. But I still prefer the previous 2 DC logos. Wonder what they will do with the logo before DC movies. Hopefully its sick!

Loved the Last one and Love this one. As an artist myself I think the contemporary design is great for this day and age. Looks phenomenal with the colors and illustration added. Can't wait to see the move animation where the "D" peels back and the camera zooms into the "C" revealing a history of the character. We as comic book fans get too set in our ways and resistant to change. We have to remember that if we want this medium to continue we have to be willing to accept that from a business aspect our beloved characters and companies will have to stay fresh and innovative to remain relevant. To the people that claim to hate it give it a chance I think it'll grow on you. It's not like it's going anywhere or you'll stop reading comics because of it; you can't be that big of a baby.

@monkeyballs no it still sucks along with the legends and leaders division. But like DC, the product doesnt change and it already has brand awareness so the logo change is NBD.
plasticman
plasticman - 1/20/2012, 7:54 AM
@ marvel72- I think Grif rubs off on us. You're right though and that is why I don't care either way.

The only thing I am curious to is how this change came about and why it was chosen to do this now. I wonder if this change came from suggestions from the motion picture side of the company since their current logo and accompanying images at the beginning of a movie look very similar to Marvel's approach. Now they can still distignuish that the movie is a DC film and customized the logo for the specific movie character but in a different and possibly more effective way.

As a graphic designer/log designer in my opinion it's not a very good logo. A logo should compliment the product and give it immediate recognition. The "D" in the "DC" is visually ambiguous. If someone didn't tell you this was DC Comics new logo you wouldn't know what it is, as opposed to their past logos which boldly display both the "D" & "C" so there isn't a question as to what you are looking at. Not to get you Marvel haters into a lather, but when you look at their logo you know it's Marvel Comics.
With the amount of artistic resources DC has you would think their logo would be more dynamic, instead it's very unexciting and bland.
