The teasers for DC's "Second Wave" of the New 52 continue to come in. This time we get our first glimpse at a redesigned Power Girl and The Huntress as featured in Worlds' Finest #1. Although The Huntress looks fairly similar to different versions we have seen of her in the past, Power Girl, not so much. It certainly looks as though Power Girl will be wearing more clothes than fans are accustomed to seeing her in. It also looks like she may have undergone some sort of reduction procedure since she last graced the pages of a comic book.

Worlds Finest #1 hits in May and will be written by Paul Levitz and feature rotating art chores from George Perez and Kevin Maguire.

From CBR...

The series follows Huntress and Power Girl as they struggle to find their way home to Earth 2 and will connect to James Robinson's "Earth 2" ongoing series, continuing the world-building of the New 52's "Second Wave."

She looks really great. Glad they changed her outfit to that instead of that Hooker outfit they had her in.

This redesign gets a thumbs up from me too.

Yeah I hate cleavage, it's the worst...too bad they can't cover her arms too.

@ kanevondoom: Agreed.

#1- Been buying 'Huntress' from issue one and is very good!

#2- As for 'Powergirl'..." No skin, No IN"!
(her boobs are her trademark- it's what sets her apart! C'mon DC!)

It's a simple, yet major improvement over the ridiculous outfit.

I have no idea what people found risque about this costume. I think it's not only elegant but timeless.

If DC was going to change anything about 'Powergirl', they should have made her boobs even BIGGER!

Does DC think the Taliban is reading comics?

I understand what they are trying to do, just didn't come off that strong. Power Girl's costume looks horrible.

@Nomis- Yeah. It's one of those books in my stack that I look forward to each month. I recommend it!

I'm just wondering what month 'Batman Beyond: 10,000 Clowns' is coming out!

I always thought that her costume really represented her personality. She's very in your face.

This new costume...eh, it's fine. But Perez is slipping with his art, she look completely out of proportion. Her head is huge with super tiny arms, it looks like he forgot how to foreshorten. The coloring is pretty bad too, I wish they'd stop coloring in the inks at random, it throws off the overall composition. On explosions and smoke it works but not directly on the character.

Lol... they took away the best part of the character.

sorcerer: I don't support objectification of women by any means. However, call it alluring, provocative or sexy, it doesn't matter to me what you call it. The way this woman was and has been drawn through the years had all of the above. Let all the other women cover up if they like, Power Girl was not every other woman.

AlThor
AlThor - 2/10/2012, 12:35 PM
@jbak368 Comics aren't supposed to make sense. If they did, characters like Huntress wouldn't last 2 minutes.

Now powergirl is supergirl with a shorter haircut.

If all the girls dressed conservatively, how will we know the sluts by comparison? Dumb change. Variety is the spice of life. Unless you're a muslim.

@sorcerer123- Take it easy! Women objectify THEMSELVES!

They LOVE being objectified. Why?
1. Boosts their self-esteem
2. Inspires self-confidence
3. Magnifies their self-worth in society
4. A hot chick can make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS just by BEING hot in the fashion, advertising, and in other assorted media forms.
5. They love to compete with other females in public who's the hottest and gets the most attention!
6. It's empowering for them
7. ...you get the point.

Trust me, women ENJOY the attention they get by flaunting their sexuality...and red-blooded guys like me are cheering them on!

I am so sorry for you.

I'm not saying this because I liked the old Power Girl. But the new look sucks. Its boring. Looks like a generic super hero. Yawn.

sorcerer: I agree with you about Emma Frost but not Power Girl. There's a difference between sexy and slutty. IMO, Power Girl's out fit was sexy. Emma changes clothes all the time and all her outfits look slutty. I also don't believe that women can't be drawn as sexy without taking their strong personality and Independence away from them.

To me, that would be like saying Superman's intelligence and strong moral fiber isn't believable due to the fact that he is the strongest being alive and dresses in a skin tight costume to show his muscles.

FAIL.
But it's not the first time DC has [frick]ed up with a costume change.
