COMICS: Stephanie Brown To Return As 'Spoiler' In BATMAN: ETERNAL

Ever since The New 52 was announced, fans were wondering what would happen to hugely popular characters like former Batgirls Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown, but now DC has announced at NYCC that Stephanie will return in Batman: Eternal!

Former Robin and Batgirl, Stephanie Brown will be making her return to DC Comics in Batman: Eternal in the third issue of the newly announced weekly series by DC Comics. Two years ago after the "New 52" reboot, several fans were disappointed to learn that Barbara Gordon had claimed the cowl after recovering from the events of The Killing Joke, preventing Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown from ever donning the cowl.

Now at the Batman panel at New York Comic-Con, (via CBR) Batman writer Scott Snyder has revealed that the character WILL return in the third issue of Batman: Eternal, saying that "We know that they're characters that you guys have been really vocal about. Your guys' love of Stephanie Brown have been so inspiring to us. We're really proud to announce that she'll be coming back in [new weekly series 'Batman: Eternal'], in a big way. Dan DiDio is in the audience to yell at us for telling you that."
Fans have always been vocally angry at DC Comics and most notably, Dan DiDio, for seemingly shunning Stephanie Brown's existence. A recent "controversy" is when former Stephanie Brown-Batgirl scribe Bryan Q. Miller announced that Stephanie would be Nightwing in his Smallville: Season 11 series, only to be replaced by Barbara Gordon during development. Scott Snyder reassured fans that Stephanie was not forgotten, saying "No one was trying to shelve her, it was more about finding the right time to reintroduce her."

It was the idea of Talon's James Tynion IV to reintroduce Stephanie to DC Comics, according to Snyder and it was suggested that she will once again don her "Spoiler" alias in the pages of Batman: Eternal, launching 2014 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Batman. Stephanie Brown is a character I've adored for so long.
She's one of my all time favourites.
I'm so happy.
Loved her as Spoiler.

I'm really glad you mentioned and showed a pic of her as Robin. Still ticked off that DC said she be Robin for more then 1 book, but dropped her after 2. I hated her as Spoiler, but thought she made a great transition to become Batgirl. It riminded me of what Babs used to be like. And her playing opposite Cassandra in Birds of Prey was great.

Maybe with Barbra thinking of dropping out again as Batgirl, Steph will pick it back up.

Steph is my 3rd favorite Batgirl and my 5th favorite Robin. Thats saying a lot cause I enjoy the character earnestly.

Well Stephanie was a balance to Drakes Robin much like Barbara was a balance to Graysons Robin. I think thats why Todd and Wayne are such tools. Bruce didn’t provide any p**** for them.

Im fully aware of that but Im a huge Batman fan so I like all of the supporting characters to a point (Except Carrie Kelly and BatWoman). She has a good story and a unique personality. Plus she’s my favorite Robins ex-girlfriend.

He already once challenged me to a Level neg-6 "spar" for hitting on Arianna. NOW to put that in perspective(!!!!!) a 'Level neg 2' blood drawing along w/bruising is legal in the ring, a 'Level neg
4' is fully suited up full contact just NO weopons! The ONE he challenged me TOO; Only base tights NO padding (base tights are what we ALL wear except Dick UNDER are costumes, w/padding it help with high velocity shock absorbtion (think the Red Hood chase across the skyline) Dick & Jason ONLY don't wear'em bc their suit mods there's no room! (U KINDA see Bruce wearing them as he approaches his armor&cowl in Arkham Origins) ANY HOO in neg-6 there's base tights ONLY a utility belt w/TZ equip th@ just means; basic street patrol gadgs only. SO U CAN USE WEOPONS IN THIS SPARRING! EVERYTHING FROM Force-Impact 'Rangs to Concussion Grenades, bolos & grapnels! Only BRUCE, DICK, AZREAL, Todd & Selina have done it!
