COMICS: Agent Coulson To Play A Pivotal Role In This October's MARVEL NOW! POINT ONE

Following his comic book introduction in Battle Scars alongside Marcus Johnson/Nick Fury Jr., it appears as if Agent Coulson will be one of the starrs of this October's Marvel NOW! Point One in a currently mysterious story from the creative team of Nick Spencer and Luke Ross,

While the introduction of Agent Coulson and a Nick Fury who resembles the big screen Samuel L. Jackson version felt extremely forced, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will surely be overjoyed that they now have a role in the regular Marvel comic book universe. Well, while they havent done an awful lot since their debut in Battle Scars, "Marvel NOW!" will seemingly give them a far more prominent role in things. If the following Point One teaser is anything to go by, that may include their own series from the creative team of writer Nick Spencer (Ultimate Comics X-Men) and Luke Ross (Captain America).

I liked the idea of Fury having a black son, and I even liked him becoming Sam L Fury, but he should have kept his first name, Marcus. Marcus Fury agent of SHIELD!

Marcus Johnson Nick Fury Jr is probably one of the stupidest, most forced characters in comics. I actually think it was kind of a pathetic move on Marvel's part. While I do prefer Ultimate Nick Fury to the 616 version, 616 Fury had an enormous fan-base, so for Marvel to replace him with an Ultimates/Movie lookalike was a really low move in my opinion.

And while Phil Coulson seemed a bit forced too, at least he wasn't replacing an existing character for no good reason.

Heh. I actually really liked Battle Scars. Regular Nick Fury is still in Winter Soldier so yeah. IDK if he's going to die or not in it though. LOL.

@Acira

AGREED

Too forced for me.

@Stig

Are you saying he's more of a fan fav than those characters? or that because of his fan fav he has become higher ranking in SHIELD?

Yep, it's not "natural progression", which I have made quite clear that I am a supporter of..... ;p

Marvel Now is shaping up nicely IMHO and I'm pretty stoked to see where it goes... but this whole Coulson and Marcus Fury thing is very forced. Hopefully it turns into a good move as long as they write the characters well.

I was kinda pumped for the New 52 as well but grew disappointed within the first few issues.

THEY SAID DISNEY WOULD NOT MONKEY AROUND WITH THE MARVEL UNIVERSE..THEY LIED!!!

Although Coulson is a neat character, I am quite sure disney is pushing Marvel to unify their movie and main comic universes. With that lame half black but looks like Samual L Jackson shoe horned into Nick fury's position, Hulk joining Avengers again (that's okay) and now this, I only fear what's next.

they've already rebooted the Spectactular Spider Man and Avengers: EMH to revolve around their star studded black Nick Fury. Hell, in Avengers EMH they had a compromise of both Nick Furys and now they shaved his head to look more Like Sam Jackson.

I love Samuel L Jackson but he's quite possibly the worst thing to Marvel

I'm not sure what to think. Although I may not like it, I understand where they're coming from when trying to blend their super-popular MCU with 616. If they're going to bring in the Sam Jackson Fury into the 616, could they not have blended the films and the movies by having Fury in CA:TFA with the Howling Commandos and made Sam Jackson his grandson in the MCU?

I think they're just going to end up confusing people. I think I may already be confused...

Why don't they evolve and create new characters? I bet Coulson will be a bad Motherf*^#&@. No wait. That's Sammy Jackson. I mean Shaft. No sorry, Jules.
You know some actors turn down roles...

i heard some people think its dumb that they put a character from the movies into the comics....why..i mean look at Harley Quinn..she was in the cartoon then she became a fan favorite and got put into the comics...so why hate?
