I don't know. I kinda feel like Ben Reilly is like Gwen or Uncle Ben. He shouldn't come back.

This is great. From what I've read, it seems I'd actually enjoy the Clone Saga if I sat down and read the whole thing. But this'll do for now.

Anyway, does anyone else get a 90s vibe from the art. It looks like an actual issue that would've been published for said Saga.

The Jackal probably made a Ben Reilly clone to screw around with Kaine

True. When Jackals involved you can't really trust anything.

I think this isn't Ben. Ben was a perfect clone of Peter. But from the last issue of Scarlet Spider, Jakal was only able to save Kaine's dna. So I'm guessing this is a clone of a clone..

I hope they explore the clone saga in the movies. Hopefully in Amazing Spider-Man 3. I Don't want Garfield playing all the other Spider clones but I don't know how would they do it. Lol

I can see why Marvel brought back the Jackal. After all, he was part of the most popular storyline in Spider-Man's history (the Clone Saga). Right? Guys............?..........anyone?...........clone saga?.....hellooooooooooooooo.......is that an echo?.....Fine! Be that way!! *slams door*

YES! Oh, MAN, I can't wait to see how this plays out!

(And also to see who this really is, because I'll be damned if we're actually supposed to believe that's Ben Reilly...)

Always liked Ben's outfit... One of Spidey's best and wasn't even worn by Peter (Loving Ock's new suit)

I wish Electro was wearing the hoody throughout the movie.

Not sure if I've ever noticed the coincidence of Kaine feeling guilt over the death of someone named Ben.

Funny thing its not actually Ben. I like the fact that this new clone is wearing scarlets old costume and I really hope kills Kaine and takes over the series! LOL
I collect Scarlet Spider man but I really miss Ben and the costume of Bens.

DEAR GOD! It's bad enough we got Spidey-Ock but now we have to rehash the clone saga to! Actually I'm digging Scarlet Spider heck of a lot more than Inferior Spider-Man

That costume looks atrocious. Whats up with the huge utility belt and massive web shooters. And the hoodie looks ridiculous, especially for a grown spiderman, that costume suites a 14 yr old - the Rob Liefeld utility belt and web shooters.

People can crap on the clone saga all they want, it boosted the sales of the Spidey titles dramatically when it took place in the 90's. What made it terrible was the failure to commit, rotating editorial teams and the decision to drag it out way longer than it should've been. You should try and find a blog on the internet called The Life And Times Of Ben Reilley. It details the whole clone saga and the decisions behind the scenes that led to its successful moments and ultimate failure. One funny tidbit: They had tossed around a way to end it that used Mephisto and Judas Traveller essentially rewriting time. Ultimately it was rejected because the people involved felt it went too far beyond Spider-Man's scope. fast-forward just over a decade and we get One More Day, which actually has a lot of elements from this unused ending.

They're going to make this the Real Deal Ben Reilly. What they'll do is, he's going to play a pivotal part in revealing that The Superior Spider-man is actually Doc Ock to the other heroes. He's going to need help though. So he gathers the other Spider-man; Kane, Miles, and Miguel and goes after Octavius. Once Otto's defeated they either a. figure out how to bring Peter back or b. Ben takes over as Spider-man again.

Oh man, would love to see Ben Reilly back. His death was not as epic as the death of Gwen or Uncle Ben. Really want him back. But I guess, this is not the real Ben Reilly. Let's find it out, Marvel has my attention.
lanternstorm
lanternstorm - 8/23/2013, 7:31 AM
This very well could be the real Ben Reilly. Think about it, all Marvel would have to do is say the Ben Reilly that died in that smoke stack was actually a clone of Ben, which would explain why his body deteriorated as rapidly as it did upon his death. If the real Ben would have died, being a perfect clone of Peter, his body would have deteriorated at a much slower rate upon death. Ben could have forced the Jackal to clone him with all his memories etc. so that Peter would once again think/ know that he was the REAL deal and become Spider-man again. So all these years, Ben has been in hiding; watching, waiting for the right moment to make his presence known. And what better time is there than now, with Kane taking over as Scarlet Spider and Doc Oc taking over Peter's body... Peter and Ben have always been linked. Perhaps Peter's spirit came to Ben shortly before he was erased, and told Ben what happened.

Great now maybe Marvel can return Peter to normal and leave him in piece. Originally Ben was supposed to take over while Peter settle down with his wife and family.

Oh, thank God! If this really is Ben, we might just get to see him overthrow Doc Ock and take on the Spider-Man mantle. Reilly is a clone of Peter's anyway, it'd be almost like having Pete back.
