COMICS: First Look At Humberto Ramos' AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700 Second Print Cover

Thanks to CBR, we have this first look at Humberto Ramos' pencils for his Amazing Spider-Man #700 second print variant cover. As you can see, it quite literally replaces Peter Parker with Otto Octavius as the artist provides his own unique spin of the iconic cover of issue #300.

What's the point? They took 50 years worth of Spider-Man and sh!t it away in one big flush...what a sad/stupid way to bring Marvel's figurehead to an end...everyone involved should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.

Why is this on main? No one voted it on main. Must be because Josh is on a Spidey promoting spree. How many shekels of silver did they give you?

Canon: They had already flushed decades of continuity down the toilet with the whole Mephisto debacle and its aftermath- which could have easily been avoided, but that Marvel needed a big cheap shock for the Shitvil War. Nothing good came out of that overblown and overlong storyline.

This Doc Ock thing is just another cheap shock du jour.

#700 was not that bad, Come on. And too all you who are saying "the 50 year before are gone" is stupid, it still exists in cancon, go read that like me(Marvel Masterworks FTW)

Bad idea, poorly executed. Characters that sudeenly change their personality after years of vilainy, ior that just stop fighting and leave all their responsibilities behind, after years of being obsesed with responsibility. And all written in a pretentious, self-important, cheesy manner.

A cheap gimmick to improve sales. Sure, Peter will be back by 2014 when TASM2 comes out, but this storyilne still degrades the characters (both Doc Ock and Peter Parker).

I will say [frick] this shit till it over I think someone compared it to putting penguin in Batman's body which was aptly stated

Sad thing is even when Pete's back I probably won't read it because they don't know what to do with the character

Don't buy this crap guys I beg you pirate it

Ramos, amigo, cada vez dibujas peor.
Variant cover? I prefer a variant story...and a new writer...maybe, Stan Lee... Slott is only an wrong headed amateur

They could put a naked girl on the cover, that still won't change the quality of this shitfest.

So, Octavious is going to have that sudden 'AH HA' moment and magically change his ways because he has Peters memories? Would Peter have been inspired to become a villain if Doc Ock's body had lived?

The Superior Spider man is a mass murderer right now.
Yes, everyone involved should be ashamed...
They aren't. They say is a good and exciting idea...

No amnesty for Dan Slott.

I like his style but don't understand where all the hate is coming from..? This is a story that is being told let Slott tell it and come on guys WE ALL KNOW PETE WILL BE BACK BY 2014!!! Amazing Spider-Man 2 anyone?? Fanboys hating on what they are fans of makes no sense to me...it's like why come to the site just to hate on it??? Lol people are too funny

And I'm honestly not a fan of doc ock being spidey but we should at least wait and see where the story goes BEFORE the hate begins haha

RIP Peter Parker's personality

BeeMo - 12/27/2012, 12:20 PM
This would have made more sense if Ock had become more reflective of his villainious lifestyle since learning he was dying rather than getting this explosion of Peter's memories, which now changes his personality. Really?
One of Spider Man's greatest enemies suddenly "sees the light" and decides to change for the better? Instead of laughing himself silly as to his nemesis' life?
This is the man Ock blames for killing him slowly over the years and he is going to "honor" him?
Not realistic at all.
Not buying "Stuperior Spiderman". Dan Slott can drop dead.

I hope this lasts a VERY long time. Biggest, ballsiest move by Marvel in years. Yes, bigger than Civil War, Invasion, Siege, Dark Reign, all of it. To take an iconic character and kill him this way? BRILLIANT! Please, please, please, let this storyline ride for years. There is SO much potential here! Issue 700 was EPIC!

@PeterDarker

DUDE....from one PeterDarker to another...I was thinking the same thing yesterday because I vowed NEVER to read Spidey again after the absolute reader-rape that was the 'One More Day' conclusion/cliffhanger/WTF mess.

If this more RECENT reader-rape could be eventually be erased (or properly placed into the broader Spidey canon-context) with Mephisto by 2014, I'll be back!

damn. reading the comments and hearing how Marvel has no clue on Spidey...it's a shame. I'm a DC but I do love Spidey, I haven't read Spidey since the late 80's but I figure to pick up all the variants for #700 but with the bs final and everything I'm hearing. I'll pass, smh

What I want to know is if Doc Ock 'reconciles' with MJ and they become intimate, isn't Marvel condoning a form of rape?

None of the past decade or so would have had to happen if they had just stuck to their guns, keeping Ben Reilly as the new Spider-Man for good.

They are trying so hard to put this shit in our mouth like it was a great idea - kill their more important character and put a villain in his body/mind.

GO [frick] YOURSELF, MARVEL!!!
IronHood
IronHood - 12/27/2012, 6:00 PM
Marvel is [frick]in up. Doc Ock as the new Spider-man? DUMB/FAIL! Also, Marvel NOW is shit. I tried I really did, Avengers is nothing special. Iron Man, Thor, X-Men etc. it's always the same. IMO. The Avengers Hunger Games AKA Avengers Arena just blows. DC's new 52 is over a year old & is still current & fresh & may I say is still relevant & awesome even NOW, Marvel!

Justice League, Aquaman, Batman books & the Death Of the Family stories, Green Lantern are just overall amazing books to read & I VERY STRONGLY recommend them. I think Marvel should reboot, Introduction of older characters into a new universe with new stories to tell is an amazing move, I started reading Wonder Woman for Orion & will read Flash's titles when Wally West returns. Congrats DC!

Also, DC's new 52 has everything you could want. To name a few: Phantom Stranger, Demon Knights, Team 7 offer everything from Fantasy, Demons, Magic, guns/firefights, black ops missions. DC really knows how to make good stories & cover everyone's interests, while marvel just belts out strike after strike, constantly swinging & missing.

I'm both a marvel/DC fan equally, I gave Marvel a chance but like I said, before. It's all crap. Good things I will say though is Iron Man having adventures in space & eventually joining the GOTG will be fun to watch, Captain America's adventures in Arnim Zola's Dimension Z & Hulk: Agent of SHIELD are great! Practically everything else marvel is putting out now just sucks & is predictable. IMO.

This is the BIGGEST FAIL EVER in Marvel History !!!

MARVEL have seriously SHAT on themselves and who thought they could top a debacle like the clone saga which people are still face palming after all these years...

There is NO way that Marvel can ever redeem itself after this Crapfest...
