I wouldn't say that they're super weird LoL, but it is kind of a random team.

Haha. What is this; a 60s renaissance?

Looks like it was drawn by a 12 year old. What the hell is happening at Marvel? Are they hiring children or does anyone with any artistic ability stay clear of them?

@walking

Excuse me but AvX holds that title firmly, even if it is a crossover event.

Wow! You guys are all complete morons. Allred is one of the best artists around. His work is generally humorous. iZombie, X-Statix, the Atomics. Things shouldn't always be so serious, swabs!

Fraction is a great writer, and Allred is one of the most innovative and "outside-the-box" talented creators of all time...

but this DOES look, well...super weird...

p.s.
Miss Thing? I must have missed something lol

I love this art. Very "Pulp" and reminiscent of early Fantastic Four.

I appreciate the classic art, but it's just not for me, Lee, mcfarland madureira, silvestri wet hot when I got into comics as a kid.

@TheNerdicon none of them lol, I like the art, it's very retro, I'd like to see how the story plays out before people start to blindly bash it for it's artwork.

Everybody who's criticizing Mike Allred's art can shut up and go reread their beloved back issues of Youngblood.

So, Scott's alive and Cassie's dead? I'm way out of the loop.

@marvel72 @jimpinto24 Hold on, you guys praised snyder on his writing on the swamp thing annual preview, said nothing about the art even tho its similar to FF, but you dont praise fraction, and hate the art for FF? Hmmm.

I think it's just the colors you guys don't like (although I love Laura Allred's colors too.) It's a lot of solid colors, not much variation. If we can get some of Mike Allred's pencils I think we'd get a different reaction. It's still phucking gorgeous to me, though. Scott Lang looks retarded on the cover though.

Are you guys [frick]ing kidding me? With art that good, and such classic characters as Miss Thing, how could you possibly think this'd get cancelled? I know, you guys are just yanking my chain. Looks like Marvel have another classic on their hands here!

Damn... it's hard to even joke about how bad this looks.
niknik
niknik - 10/31/2012, 9:10 PM
Alred is trying to give it that early Marvel look but his attempt is so inferior to the actual early Marvel work of Kirby and Ditko it's rediculous. Looks more like the B and C lister artists from that time period. Even Don Heck looked better than this crap.
loki668
loki668 - 10/31/2012, 11:12 PM
I don't like the art, either. For those of you saying "thut up and go read thith or that becauthe thith art ith sthpethial": Get the [frick] over it. Not everyone is going to like this art. It appeals to some and not to others. It doesn't make you special because you like it, nor does it make us special for not liking it. It's just preference. Stop acting like it's some kind of personal insult to you because someone doesn't like Allred's art. You're not getting a cut of his money for promoting his art so what the [frick] are you getting so worked up about?

@Nomis
It's very true that a great story will help you overlook an art style that you don't care for. You also used a perfect example with Miller's "Dark Knight Returns" (the art looked like he suffered a stroke about halfway through the book but the story transcended the art.) I have never been a fan of Allred's art but I have, at times, enjoyed stories that utilized his art.

@JustDame
Sometimes the colors are jarring but my dislike for Allred's art is more of a "texture" thing. I'm glad that some people like his art, as it's that diversity that keeps comics appealing to more people than just me (that would be a dull-ass world of comics if all of the artists catered to little, ole me.)

@TheNerdicon
So, based on your argument, no one can comment on something they dislike unless they can perform a similar feat? That argument is so full of holes, I would swear it had gone through Hurricane Sandy.

is that the Thing costume that Ben Grimm used to wear when he was in human form back in the day?
