Coming this October, INFINITY can no longer be contained to Earth. As it consumes the attention of every corner of the Marvel Universe, writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Francesco Francavilla send Marvel’s top line interplanetary team against its most frightening galactic despot, Thanos, in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. With literally the entire cosmos on the line, can the Guardians stay alive long enough to triumph? "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will give me the opportunity to draw something I haven't done before at Marvel: some good old sci-fi fun," shares Francavilla. "More than a challenge I'd call [this an] opportunity." Two characters in particular stand out amongst the pack for the artist. "[Rocket Raccoon and Groot] are so out there and different from all the other super hero characters/books I have been working so far," he notes. "I love them!"

Get Bendis off this series and hook Hickman into it. Hickman is making his Avengers titles more cosmic than GOTG and Nova put together. He'd be perfect for this title (and I think he'd be respectful enough to give Starlord back his mask and bring Rocket Raccoon back to his DnA format).

I mean, Bendis has no clue with what he's doing with RR. "Blam, murdered you! Blam, murdered you too!" <--That is lazy writing that makes Rocket sound more like a psychopath than a tactical genius.

I like the art; just not the '80s color scheme. Catches your eye, I guess.

Have they explained why Groot is covered with tap lights?

It kinda looks like Gamora and Quill are fighting a case of the giggles. "We have to look badass for the cover."

And I see Roger the Homonculus is playing Drax. Good for him, making it into the big leagues.

@Benjamitesandwich I agree with some of the things you're saying but Bendis is doing a good job to me so far. I'm loving GOTG.

Oh, I love the series! I'm a huge fan of anything GOTG. I just wish that Bendis would make a continuation of the DnA run rather than redesigning the characters completely. I mean, Starlord died and is now back without any explanation of how he escaped the cancerverse, and yet Richard Rider is still gone. Shouldn't he be back too? I appreciate how Bendis is diving into the original Starlord character, but I'd like it if he didn't tamper with the rest of the characters. Like if you read DnA's run, Groot (very rarely) says more than, "I am Groot!"

Francavilla is right Groot and Rocket are stand outs they can really make a big diffrence in superhero movies just like in the comics, They're going to be awesome GOTG movie.

I hate these uniforms and groots unexplained Christmas lights. The uniforms are so bland and generic mass-effect like rip offs. The more I try to read Bendis's idea of GotG the more disappointed with the series I become. I like his All-New X-Men run even though it took 13 issues to catch up to the fifth issue of Uncanny Avengers. But this series is just losing my interest.

Francesco is good but his style not appropriate for this series.
His work best suited for street level comics like Daredevil & such.

What happened to Rocket?
He looks like a lanky human with a cat head?

This cover just shows that it is always 'who' you know.
