COMICS: Kaine Sets Out To Assassinate Wolverine In May's SCARLET SPIDER #17

Revealed in Marvel's May 2013 solicitations, issue #17 of Scarlet Spider will see Kaine don a different costume in order to pay a debt to the Assassins Guild by taking down Wolverine once and for all! Hit the jump for Ryan Stegman's awesome cover.

This May will see Scarlet Spider taking on Wolverine in what sounds as if it will be a battle to the death! Whether the costume on this cover by artist Ryan Stegman (The Superior Spider-Man) is a new look for Kaine or just an indication that he will be donning a stealth suit to take on Logan remains to be seen, but the solicitation itself confirms that writer Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World) will be joined by new interior artist Carlo Barberi (Deadpool). While seeing the Scarlet Spider interacting with the Marvel Universe is very cool, one can only hope that we will see him confront the new Spider-Man sooner rather than later, especially as Yost writes Avenging Spider-Man.

Scarlet Spider is always wearing the stealth suit. He stole it from Peter after Spider-Island and he stated that Madame Webb changed the way it looks which is why it no longer looks like the original stealth suit.

I am completely in support of this! Scarlet Spider has been awesome, but the last couple issues have had sub-par art so getting this new artist on board is perfect.

You know, when Dan Slott stops writing Spider-Man, Chris Yost should take over. I know he's writing Avenging Spider-Man but he should also write the "flagship" title as well.

The whole point of that suit is the "tron glow" it's a stealth suit that bends light. It should have some way of emitting and redirecting light.

Spider's stingers could get cut off, but could also slow Wolverine down. Will be interesting. I hope there is good story, and action is good.

@ aztecRaingod I agree , Spider-man has the best rouge gallery in comicbook history . So going toe to toe with wolverine would make for an epic battle, but sadly logan would most likely lose every time.

A STEALTH suit, that glows in the dark. Yeah........makes perfect sense. Wolverine looks good, but the Spiders head is way too big. And look at his bicep. All that detail on Wolverine, and the Scarlet Spiders drawn half ass.

Spider-Man has an amazing power set and an amazing Rogues gallery; however, Wolverine has been around for many more years than old Peter Parker or any clones and has a great deal more experience. He has a skeleton and claws made of an indestructible metal, a healing factor, agility, and he's actually quite strong. He is capable of holding his own against many other characters in the Marvel Universe who are more powerful than them through his combat training and familiarity with the extent of his powers. For instance, if Spider grabs Wolvie from behind, Logan's not afraid to let those blades pass through himself to kill his target. Logan also has a ferocity in his fighting, a berserker mode, where he is pretty much untouchable (Unless Thor changes sides right as he's going to kill Red Skull due to mind control and drops the hammer on him while a goat lady nullify's his powers)

Wolverine would kill peter parker spider man. Not too sure about Kaine. Hes ferocious. I think it would be a draw. Spider sense and faster reflexes would keep Wolverine from landing a fatal strike, and he wouldnt be afraid to go all out on Wolverine.

And wolverine gets his ass kicked by people less powerful than spider man. Dont get me wrong, wolverines my favorite character. Yet hes the one we always see getting pounded on just cause the writers want someone to have the villains pound on. The same way the writers never utilize spider mans spider sense properly. Like I said, draw.

about the suit , before you make any comments in the future about anything either a. read the comic or b. wiki. the suit turns him completely invisible even to his own eyes (as the truly superior spiderman peter parker deduced immediately when he made it.) the suits lights when in stealth mode become visible to only its user ( parker or now caine through a display in his optics ( ya parker did that before doc ock became the doucheperior spidera$$. lets him actually see his hands and body.

Yeah but he also gets his ass kicked by the Hulk and still keeps getting up and landing some good hits. I think it's safe to say Wolverine while being a punching bag is also one of the deadliest heroes in the marvel uni.
