I always liked that Claremont era of the X-men (early-80's), before it became too convoluted. I also think it's disappointing that X-men can never get cosmic like Marvel can with it's properties.

@Nomis you're right. They're just making cyclops young and retelling Claremont's brilliant run

@magnus yeah Cyke is the man. He is definitely at the top tier of Marvel's heroes and can go toe to tke with the best of em. With him being the face of mutantkind and its revolution as well being an outlaw he wouldn't bea good candidate to lead the "do-gooder" Avengers. Your definitely onto somethig though. I think Marvel was on that same page he ce they applintes his lesser known but qualified younger brother to lead the Avengers Unity Squad.

@Magnus I wouldn't mind that actually. I'm honestly surprised that he's never been an Avenger before given how popular the X-Men were in that world.

Def gonna pick this up. My opinion of Scott needs a boost considering his older self has been a tool for a few years now. Once again I hope that it's Wanda that unites the sapien and superior not Scott or James or Max. That would make me smile at the irony.

Baby Scott is so awkward and teenage, it's adorable. X-D Can't wait to pick this up, a day one for sure. I'll have to hunt down the Skottie variant later.

@Magnus: One of my wildest fangirl dreams is that Marvel would rescue Movie Cyclops from FOX (since they don't care about him anyway) and make him an Avenger. LOL

Cyclops is done so bogus in the Xmen movie franchise.
He's an awesome leader, strong willed, and not to mention quite a ladie's man
(Jean Grey,Emma Frost O_O)

We get none of that in the movies he was portrayed in, and it's damn near criminal.
A very underrated character, that's seen as "boring", "too clean", etc.
He has plenty of depth, and has done more than his fair share of mutant A## kicking.

Obliterating Mr. Sinister with one optic blast,
singe handedly taking down an entire team of brainwashed X-men on his own,
because he was familiar with their attack patterns.

and of course SCHISM.

I'm for Scott Summers all the way.

Scott Summers leading the Avengers would be such an awesome twist my head would explode. Just for a limited run of a year or so - establish that he's as tactically brilliant as Cap (or near enough), but prone to questionable moral decisions - he tends to see things in terms of survival and expect the worst, and ultimately he would be kicked out for crossing a line. It would make for vey compelling reading.

also get rid of the young x-men bring back the real jean grey. do an uncanny avengers with cyclops as the leader. the whole bs with him being blamed for killing Prof X. needs to stop, everyone knows the phoenix took over his mind. and not for nothing Tony is the one who blasted phoenix into 5 different parts.

^That is a very visually interesting line up. :-O

Surprised myself how many people are on board with Cyke leading the the Avengers. Probably because I got the impression from Tumblr that the Scott community really don't like the comic book Avengers right now lol.

@osideous That was the unlettered preview posted a couple weeks back.

I'm alright with the O5 in the present but unless it creates a split timeline or is a springboard for a reboot then I don't see the point of dragging it out much further.

Cyclops already had his hands full, dealing with Wolverine on being on the same team as him back in the day,
I could only imagine Cyclops being the leader of the Avengers and dealing with Iron Man/Tony Stark.
That alone makes for great reading.
I'd read it.
