COMICS: Marvel Debuts "Everything Ends" Teaser; Is A Reboot On The Way?

COMICS: Marvel Debuts "Everything Ends" Teaser; Is A Reboot On The Way?

After weeks of cryptic teasers, we now have another, but for the spring rather than summer! Instead of teasing a new take on a past event, this seemingly reveals the end of the Marvel Universe! Could Secret Wars lead to a line wide reboot similar to "The New 52"? Check it out...

These Marvel teasers are getting more and more confusing, especially as this one is dated BEFORE the "Summer 2015" ones which have been released almost daily for the past few weeks. Is the Secret Wars event leading to some sort of reboot or could this be referencing the Ultimate Universe's demise as one of the teasers previously indicated? We'll have to wait and see...

If we get a story as good as Flaspoint, I'm down.

If it begins as bad as The New 52, God help us all.

Just to clarify: I actually like several titles if The New 52. But inconsistencies, continuity issues, weak stories and confusing uninteresting changes... are irritating.

New 52 Is great IMO, loved the move by DC is Marvel does it too it would be nice, puts an end to an era and starts a new one.

new 52 started great with JL and Batman among others

Problem with the New 52, was not everything was rebooted fresh.

DC kept Batman and his history pre-Flashpoint almost intact while all others weren't.

DC also pulled a One More Day with Superman and Lois, ugh!

Interesting.

Now that you put it that way... It actually sounds fathomable.

Opinions: What's worse?

Retconn or Reboot?

A "end of all things" is already happening now in Marvel. Basically a 2 year event is going on. 3 years, cause I think the incursions started last year.

New 52 is horrible and NOT an improvement on the convoluted DC of old. Just a new mess, where the very characters have been changed so much. I admit there are some interesting ideas, but nothing that needed a crap reboot of the entire line. And that first Justice League arc was atrocious.

Yeah, probably a conclusion to Hickman's very long "Incursions" storyline.

I'm surprised everyone in this thread isn't already crying about another teaser from Marvel like they've done for the ones before this.

I'm hyped for this event and actually have the patience to see what they have planned before overreacting though.

They'll never have the comics tie into the MCU properly (maybe take cues from it or a similar style but never have them all set in one universe). Kevin Feige even said that they want to keep the universes separate. When he was interviewed about Marvel games (due to the rights returning for some characters etc) he said they plan to do a Marvel Video Games Universe (instead of tying it into the MCU) and keep everything separate. How would comics fully tying into the MCU even work? You can't really move forward with 2/3 movies a year + dozens of comics that will be held back by the movie universe progress.

It's probably nothing too big. Marvel always oversells and under-delivers on their events.

So Quesada is finally going to destroy the Marvel universe?

According to the prophecies laid out so far, only one alt reality can survive. So either 616 or Ultimate have to die. Hints says that only the one with Franklin Richards in it can suvive (ust like Earth X and Heroes Reborn).
Could be the death of the Ultimate verse, but I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to combine the two Earths into one with the help of Franklin and Rhodey's weird earth-engine. Then the cinematic universe comics will be born.

It explains why the time traveler from 3000 came back to speak with Fury. His future was going to vanish anyway. (btw, that guy is still out there)

After Death of Wolverine they have to restart the Marvel Universe… LOL.

@thebest
probably because they didn't want to number anything too high before the coming reboot. And also because it makes it harder for digital comics bootleggers to find particular volumes.

New 52 wouldn't be so bad if Batman had been rebooted, too. 90% of my problems with New 52 can somehow be traced back to Batman's weird ass timeline.

...That and I have no idea what's possessing DC to keep Clark and Lois apart.

...And I don't get why black Wally is a thing.

...And I've no idea where Donna went.

But this is a Marvel reboot article, so excuse my off-topicness.

DC's New 52 pretty much made me END buying those comics.
MARVEL does a reboot & it's weak..I'm done buying comics from the Big 2.

I like most of the New 52. But wish Batman had actually gotten a reboot of sorts. Not an entire reboot but should have erased Damian Wayne. Only one that should not have gotten a reboot is Green Lantern. Some of the better ones were Justice League Dark, Aqua-Man, Wonder Woman, Animal Man, Green Arrow, Flash, and for me even though it got canceled right when it was really getting good Firestorm.

can't wait to see what marvel have in store for us marvel fans.dc new 52(how long do you have to be running before you are no longer new)had a few great titles.

-animal man
-batman
-green lantern
-justice league dark
-swamp thing
-dc events

that's pretty much all that interested me,so it wasn't all bad.so i hope marvel can pull off something special if this is a massive reboot.

question dc fans what is the next event after forever evil,is it future end?
Jordanstine
Jordanstine - 11/4/2014, 7:12 AM
@Batmaniac

Convergence will be a retconn. All their major events every 3 years are, from Crisis to Flashpoint.

DC through each battle will pick and choose which character from all the timeline becomes the prominent character for their books. We could see a new Justice League with pre-flashpoint Wonder Woman but post-crisis Superman, etc.
